boring

Posted by rubez on Feb-05-2008 10:25:

worst, if-not-technically, producer ever

he would be better off making hard house. this style for trance is disgusting. fucking hate they offbeat basslines. i hate the cleanliness and the over compression, everything sounds fused, nothing stands out. this is the style that has killed trance over the past couple of years. boring as fuck, no soul.

i prefered the less perfect, brasher, more spontaneous classic style, more techno with melodies. todays trance has no class.

because classic tracks never used offbeat basslines

not ones that dominate the tune.

Your not still here are you!!

Well, I think its kinda funny. As soon as a DJ / Producer that was raved for years starts going big everybody bashes his style.
Same with Tyas I think.

I love his productions and I love his sound I think its a cool and indeed a very classic approach to Trance. On the other hand, Tyas has done a lot of things that are not "offbeat bass", so I think its wrong to redcue him to this sound.

Of course, he has more of a signature sound than most other producers have and many productions follow a similar approach, but I dont think this is a particularly bad fact. I think its cool if a Producer has a signature sound that you can "rely" on...

Lift is a great song - and will be a classic esp for full on trance
Pacifier is my fav song he's wrote and a top tune

Considering he's engineered alot of tunes for other people inc Beam and yanou and dave 202 it would be stupid to complain about his engineering. What you dont like is the style he uses for the track sreleased under his own name. Which he's said before is so he can play a set in the style he wants i.e. harder. I do agree they are v. compressed but that is how he makes the tunes under his name, so dont buy or play them then.

The off beat bassline is still good - Aly and Fila who sound exactly like PVD did years ago are making good use of it

Posted by Magnus on Feb-05-2008 12:48:

I don't get why people bash Tyas. People are just plain haters of his quick success and production talent. They would not be complaining if they were in his shoes...

Posted by rubez on Feb-05-2008 12:48:

its just the over produced clean sound i hate. its the opposite of acoustic/organic. its not the position (offbeat) of it that i hate, its his particualr bass its just mind numbingly boring as fuck.

the stuff played every week by avb in they god awful state of trance sets. close in style to the sound of marc van linden. i think it has no soul. too clean, stale.

i u like that style then fine, but im more likely to get goosebumps watching an episode of sabrina the teenage witch.

if marc van linden and sean tyas are at one end of the scale, then the opposite would be tunes like mark norman - niagara, Y traxx - mysteryland, nalin + kane - open your eyes.

i just think tyas tunes are soulless and empty. may be fine for pumping out in a club, through a fuck off speaker system, but thats about it.

well he's hardly made a classic if hes only been big a few years. it takes time for tunes to become classics hence the term 'classic' you fool.

and your judging his productions on his 2 discover tracks which have offbeat basslines. what you havent took into consideration that all discover tracks have offbeat basslines its what makes the label different from the rest. offbeat, fat kick driving tracks.

lets hear something you've made thats better.

a classic is a classic. u can spot them on day one, if it has to mature, then it wasnt a strong enough production in the first place - though doesnt mean it wont become a classic. some tunes do need to grow on you.

as soon as i heard push - strange world i thought classic. it didnt have to wait to become vintage. idiot, you dont have to go by the dictionary defintion. never heard of the term 'instant classic'?

a tyas tune is the last to stand the test of time!! forgetful is being nice.

you may have thought this will be a classic but you cant hear a new track and say oh this is a classic because its not a classic.

what you think is a classic others might not its a classic

you getting the classic lingo now?

Posted by rubez on Feb-05-2008 13:37:

yes u can. as soon as i heard gouryella tenshi i thought that was a classic. its still my favorite tune of all time.

are u going to tell my u or anyone else doesnt think thats a classic? if u had to wait a few years to recogize that as a classic then u dont have a good ear for trance..

honestly tenshi isnt a classic in my eyes. bought it vinyl years ago when it first came out. cant even remember the melody of it now tbh.

rubez posts are always classics

thats NOT a good thing by the way. he remixed a ton of classics, desecrating them, in no way bettering them.

classics are the one type of tune which dont need to be remixed, this prick done loads of them to get noticed. all the done was give them a more dj friendly (also not a good thing), generic layout and feel. disgrace!

tenshi has one of the best melodies ever! and everything else about it is stellar too. very energetic.

classics in my mind are

vernon - vernon's wonderland

Age Of Love - The Age Of Love (Watch Out For Stella Club Mix)

cosmic baby - fantasia

I don't think rubez is picking on Tyas but the style of trance that is produced these days which has great production and full use of the frequency spectrum but at the same time has no soul.

I think Rubez example of a state of trance is a very apt in the fact that all the tracks are of a very high standard but they just do hit you as being a classic.

Trance may have moved on in the last few years and that's not a bad thing as it has introduced some Varity and new sounds.

That said some of us are still longing for he day of 99 - 03.

The production prob wasn't at the same standard but they melodies were fantastic and true classics were in abundance.

Some of you may really like the current state of trance but some of us are living in the past and have no shame : )

And by the way Armin Van Buuren's State of Trance is awesome, I have never heard so much great music by someone who puts mixes out every week like that. I don't understand how anyone can bash Armin. IMO he RULES!!!!
