Yeah, normally I don't believe in the commercial hype related to this artificial day, but I was thinking about doing something special this time around.

Flowers are so cliche and so marked up...chocolates...meh, I don't want her to get fat LOL and jewelry seems excessive, so what ideas do my fellow TOTAs have?

I'm giving my GF what I give her every year....a good slap and tickle.

Posted by The Highroller on Feb-05-2008 14:07:

This only answers the thread title, but I'm going to a club on Valentine's Day. It is one of the best days of the year to go out, haha.

Posted by zoogla on Feb-05-2008 14:08:

Well then, add it to your sig goddammit!!! I wanna see where you're going!!! LOL

i plan on kicking my gf's ass in glow in the dark mini-golf this year.

I'm doing nothing on the actual day (might get my hair done, now that I think about it) - but on Sat the 16th, the BF and I are flying to Montreal for 2 nights and staying at this beautiful hotel in old montreal. On the Saturday night we'll probably go somewhere swanky for dinner followed by a trip to the casino, then skating on Sunday and dinner at a friend's Sunday night. Can't wait.

Posted by Jem_hadar on Feb-05-2008 14:47:

I'm not sure yet.

On the actual day? Prolly nothing. Give her a phone call, but thats nothing out of the usual.

When I see her the following weekend, I'll prolly have some cute-sie gift for her, I dunno, like an adorable La Senza bear or something.

I dont like doing flowers or chocolate. Both seem ingenuine to me for some reason, like its just "not me".

Posted by Ashley on Feb-05-2008 14:49:

I'll be in St. Lucia with my Financee Can't wait!

Lucky you.

Go to la Queue de Cheval for dinner!

GF coming over and we'll go out for dinner.

Then were going to the US for 2 days to get away and do some shopping!

(I had to re-arranged the trip so I could be back for the Family day party lol...but it actually worked out better)

Posted by FunkyCrew on Feb-05-2008 15:01:

not sure either
last year we went to a really cozy place for dinner, with live jazz
I wouldn't mind going back

for those in relationships currently, every day should be valentine's day

you don't need one specific day of the year to spend time with your significant other!

and you sure as hell don't need to buy into the commercialism.

Of course you do!

You live in North America now. You'll learn that Commercialism is the way of the Western World...

Isn't being together good enough an excuse to do something EXTRA special?

I just think a randomly timed surprise Valentine's Day (not when the rest of the world are celebrating it - which isn't really original now is it?) could be amazing.

Anyways, for you romantics here's a pretty cool event worth checking out... http://www.newmindspace.com/queenofhearts08.php

Adam and I have valentine's day every day

Makes coming up with something for the day very difficult but we'll try

hmmm....I'm sure I could buy a nice Starbucks 'Valentine' Gift Basket...

Good Job!

The one good though is, if you like chocolate, Feb. 15th is the best day for chocolate sales!

This will only be the second time i'm here for Valentine's Day. Not last year, but the previous 3 years I've always been on holidays on the beach since it was during Reading Week.

Noted.

Are there any good Canadian produced chocolate? Just curious, as I have a friend who asked me to send her Canadian chocolate. I know Canadians are known for maple syrup, but chocolate?

Posted by jchung52 on Feb-05-2008 15:37:

make sure when you dip it in that the chocolates cooled off a bit first... last thing you need is going to the hospital explaining that you burned wee wee with some sweet goodness
