TAKKRA - Black Dahlia (Original Mix)

A total build from scratch track, in total dutch spring2008 style.
Meaning; typical search for a fresh lead, a deep and more hollow kick. Dramatic notes for the melody, revival of 'oldschool' strings. Leaning slightly to a more techno-side of trance.
sample: 3:46 @ 192kb/s

created with:
> Fruityloops Studio
> Vanguard (the old one )
> sample pack that came with ACID.
*Every riff, percussionloop, even the shakerloops have been made by ME from one shot samples. Exactly how it should be done imo.

Maybe, some of you, will recognise a melody from a previous track

I've put a lot of effort in creating this tune, though it's not entirely finished. You'll be hearing the intro, bridge, break and the breakdown.

The break is a little compact because I don't know what to do with it yet, I would like it long though.

I would like some pointers on how to improve the soundquality of the synths, and maybe something for the arrangement for the intro.

Thanks in advance!
Hope you guys enjoy

hey takkra,

i like the metallic sounds in the intro, maybe they could be even a bit sharper...
fade to the bass is cool, imo...
maybe you could add some closedhat in the background to bring some more drive into the track?! some other delayed percs could fit in there, aswell!
melody is indeed really dark..i like that somehow, though i'm more the chilled guy!
the pads could be imo a little bit more into the mix...
i quite like the rather short break...a track doesnt always need a long one...
this is not some kinda feedback you're searching for, but i hope it's a little bit helpful...

hey klangzentrum

first of all, thanks for listening! the closed hat is a great idea, how could i forget that . im looking into even more percs as well im glad you like the melody! and well, I know tracks dont always need a long break, but it would work better introducing the melody after a long break. Im looking for any kind of feedback everything helps!

thanks!

The idea is really great, has the makings of a good track.

I think the synths are pretty good but the sound is a little weedy. Perhaps you have cut a little too much in the midrange on them.
You might also want to check out BBE Sonic Maximizer. Give it a low boost on that. I like where its going so far. Just my two cents.

Cheers
Nem

i like the begining and the main synth (the line could be better, but it isn't bad). for me some synths sounds a bit too high.
nice stuff, surely has potencial

i agree with the things said above..

try and Parametric equalize your main leads, and boost your bassline aswell. i can here your one-shots and they sound very familiar.. try and hide the "original" sounds by equalizing them so people wont recognize them as easily. keep up the good work though mate.

greetz,

Rinster.

Hey nem, thanks for listening
ill check it out right away, thanks for the pointers! exactly what im looking for!

you too thanks for listening stereoid!

Posted by Takkra on Feb-07-2008 17:45:

hey rinster thanks for the advice, the main leads are already parametrically EQ'd to hell.. to get the effect I want from them.. but now i cant get them "clean". thanks for the advice on the oneshots too really helpful!

hey TAKKRA

there t-ravel

i don't understanded this track...

0-28 sek perc is very good, but bassline and more is chaotic. sounds are plastic,

good idea to progressive tune.. chords changes are good but this sample with bassline is too loud.. break with normal kick is good option.

5/10 - i think , you must work...

good track must be after big corrects...

subject comment.. only mine...

greetings

hey, great intro love the metallic drum intro thingy.

Great bass when it comes in. Like that melody type thingy that drops in notes. Like break bit, good synths ur using.

And theres nothing wrong with uising samples man for percussions :-) I cant make them if my life depended on it I need to steal them from smoewhere and add some fx to try to make it mine.

I think youre very talented. i tell this to every fruityloops user, but I highly recomend uninstalling it NOW and going for some others such as reason, cubase, nuendo etc... really lets you open up youre creativity. My music has improved SO much since changing over, and frankly i think im getting wuite good. any judge for yourself
