Anyone going to Cedric Gervais @ Destiny in Orlando tomorrow?

Just checking to see if anyone is going. I'm not decided yet, but I may drive out there.

Kind of torn between this and Sasha in Tampa on Sunday. I know Sasha's a much bigger name, but I'm not too much into the dark/minimal stuff he seems to be playing now.

I probably won't have as good a time musically at Sasha as I would have at Gervais, but I'll be with better company at Sasha, plus its from 6-3 which is sweet.

I could maybe do both...

What you guys think?

EDIT: Listening to Sasha's NYE Showcase set and it's not too bad. Definately sounds like it'll be a total mindfuck.

Up to you man.. I don't know if i will make it out to Cedric.. It should be an alright show..

If you're into Sasha's older sound, Cedric might be for you. Also, Monday is going to be rough if you go to Tampa.

He plays a lot of prog. He plays some good tracks, I wouldn't really classify him as a prog DJ, nor a house DJ. He goes with the flow. But I am certain it will be more prog than house. There will be more prog with cedric than there will be with three or Sasha....

when did he start playing prog cuz i could have sworn i've heard a few sets from him that were all electro.

Posted by llavoe on Feb-08-2008 05:19:

Like I said he goes with the flow. Every time I have seen him for a residency @ space he plays prog. Electro is thrown in but not really his entire set. He changes it up.

I'm gonna try and make it to Sasha and hopefully be back in decent shape for school on Tue.

For Cedric, I'll just play it by ear.

it will be definitely more house than prog. orlando is not a prog crowd.

i'll be there, btw.

He will play more prog than house. That's what he has been playing at his other gigs atm.

that's what i was thinking. any time any dj has played at destiny with the exception of prydz, anything but strictly house, they have cleared the dancefloor. orlando is like a wannabe miami in terms of a scene lol.

If the club is not at capacity tonight, Cedric will play some prog and electro. Have you guys heard him recently? He is playing a lot of stuff that Sharam is playing since they last toured together for Sharam's GU tour that never ended. The last few times I have heard him at Space (In Dec and Nov.) he played prog and electro sounding prog. Not Miami house. He is not going to sound like DT or Junior. He will sound more like he is playing with Sharam's selection which is progressive house. He will not play a lot of tribal or deep house.

You'll see.

Did anyone go? Was it crowded? Any fun? What did he play?

Posted by DiegoParra32 on Feb-09-2008 19:48:

i heard he played a horrible set. during his transitions he would cut off the bass for a minute and it seemed to happen all night killing the vibe. i figured he was going to blow so glad i stayed home

I didn't go. I'll be going to Sasha tomorrow.

I saw him at Destiny and it was mostly a house set "music is the answer",dt parts of "get's your hands up", "this is not miami","they know what is what, but they don't know what is what, they just strut ..wtf!" even that old "you got to show me love" he definitley got a great response from the crowd. I didn't particularly care for all of his selections but it made for a high energy party. I got there after midnight and there was a 100 people waiting in the 5.00off vip line to get in. Inside they was as many people as the Sander k. show. Everbody had a great time, it was worth my time. I'd give the party an 8 out of 10.
