OMG that place was packed!!!!!

Posted by TSG on Feb-09-2008 18:38:

I think I may have to say..... NEVER AGAIN! The place was more packed than last time! Freakin rediculous! Trying to find a spot to dance was NOT going to happen and the only thing happening was having dicks rubbing my butt as I'd try to get through the crowd. The music was good most of the time but then PVD started to bore me.
I also think the Chinese New Year or the moon affected some people in a negative way. Oh well, I did get to see some friends I hadn't see in a long time.

I left before 3:00

i seriously doubt that happened to you

Awesome shots!!! I had a fucken blast last night. Too bad I don't remember anything from PVD!!!

Honestly, I think I had more fun because I was hanging out with friends I haven't seen in so fucken long. Man, I miss going out.

The place was so freakin' packed that it made it very uncomfortable to dance. You couldn't even walk.

Posted by bucke on Feb-09-2008 19:41:

it was a typical pvd set. however i couldn't enjoy it because i had to babysit my drunk friend about half the time. but i caught about half of it, and it was pretty good. he played binary finary on the keyboards which was priceless, and he threw down a slew of classics which was also really awesome, and some pounding new tracks which i don't think i've ever heard before.

Posted by bucke on Feb-09-2008 19:44:

.....oh yeah and i wasn't feeling bamaca AT ALL. he did a terrible job opening for pvd, but thats probably because i don't dig prog house too much.

Posted by TommyfromLA on Feb-09-2008 20:46:

Guys I must say that looks like the shittiest crowd everrrrrrr in the content that its all guysssssssssssss wtffffyou couldnt pay me to go in a room with 1500 guys and 350 girls sooo lame....

Got to agree with TSG this time; It wasn't just packed, it was IMPOSSIBLE packed. It HAD to be way beyond legal capacity. I was thinking that if the Fire Marshall was there, it would have been shut down. It's annoying to pay all that money only to be screwed because the Promoter and/or Venue Operator is trying to squeeze the party for every penny.

I tried a couple of times to go in and dance, but I usually ended up giving up and going back outside to hang out.

But yah, from what I heard, PVD was kind of "meh" too I thought. Oh well...

At least like Woody mentioned, it was really fun just hanging out with the old crews again, catching up and bullshitting. Good seeing you Jes! And Sarah, and Karen! And a few other TA people I met, but can't recall their names now.

EDIT: Oh! Kittycrush! That's the other TA I met......well, the most memorable one.

looked real packed in there, not too enjoyable I can imagine.

Posted by TSG on Feb-09-2008 20:59:

To DonnieB: I told Ya so! Yeah good to see you again and at least we got to hang out and laugh a bit!

I thought you said you weren't gonna go? ya I kinda anticipated this to happen. Pay all that money and have a shitty time. Same stuff happened when I saw him a few years back, but then again this happens everywhere.

Yah, I did say that. Ooppss, lol.

I had to go down there to get rid of my extra tickets and once I was all the way there I thought; "I really shouldn't, but eh, WTF...let's do it!"

Next thing yah know, it's 4am, you're cracked out and all you can do is shake your head at your no-self-control-having self.

Ugh, I hope it's not going to be as ridiculously crowded tonight here in SF. But I already know that's too much to ask for. I'm just hoping that there is some breathing room in the VIP areas.

LOL...that reminds me about this old friend of mine who used to like to go around tapping girls butts with his water bottle. His little way of saying "hello" I suppose. He used to get away with it a lot because he was a good looking guy with a kind of innocent looking face (ironically). His other friends had warned him to not be doing that shit, but he wouldn't listen. He really didn't think it was a big deal.

Anyway...one night, just after arriving at the club, he does it to the wrong girl. She thinks it was his hand I guess (not that one is much better than the other once you've violated someone), she wheels around and starts reading him the riot act. What my friend didn't notice was that her boyfriend was standing right next to her. So while she's laying in to him, the boyfriend steps to the side and whacks my friend over the head with a beer bottle, lol.

BAM! Down he goes, blood everywhere, Security comes, hauls them all in the back room and asks "WTF is going on here?"

My friend explains what he did, the girl's boyfriend defends what he did, and finally Security says; "OK, everybody, OUT!" And throws them all out on the street just as their high is kicking in, lol.

Moral of the story; Don't rub girls butts, no matter how hot you think you are...it pisses them off, lol.

For people that got the 100.00 VIP ticket...how was it? Was it worth the money? Just curious how the experience was.

Posted by in2muzikk on Feb-09-2008 22:18:

Overall I thought it was an awesome night! Crowded, yes, but so much energy and aside from being a little push and shove up at the front, the crowd seemed nice.

Paul's set got so good in the middle, can't begin to ID the tracks, but some funky techno stuff that I've never heard before. They even let him play two more tracks at the end, which is usually strictly forbidden with 4 a.m. curfew! Security said that he was leaving for the restroom and would be right back, but then they pushed everyone out and I didn't see him again...probably had a plane to catch or something or maybe the crowd was mobbing him too much, he usually hangs out with the crowd for awhile at the end.

What really amazed me was that aside from once right before Paul's set, I never waited more than 5 mins. for a drink or to use the restroom. Got into the club within about 10 minutes too, so I actually think Giant did a good job of managing everything with so many people (flashback NYE!)

Can't wait to see Paul again, he always does it for me!

This was actually not a GIANT event. But yes, the venue did a GREAT job of having extra help on hand at the door (the security pat-down people) that helped move things along at a really good pace.

I thought it was a cool night (for a trance night). I don't think there is any other DJ that Vanguard takes out ALL the lower level tables out for. (maybe that is why Vanguard figured they have room for more capacity)

Washing machines were in FULL EFFECT!

Nice Seeing Woody and KarenLoves2Party and others.

I thought it was cool to have more room (especially before PVD came on), it was also nice to have a premium open bar that went fairly fast. (you just better tip your bartender! I always do, but I see how bartenders talk shit if they don't, its not like that in most of Europe, they never expect a tip, but hey they trained me well to always tip!)

He played anthem, (didn't really bother me much at the time), ended with a little White Stripes - Seven Nation Army, everyone was humming it with him so he played something after 4 AM (which he did)

PS - Thanks for the pic Woody!

Well, it was my first time at Vanguard and I've got to agree with everyone here... it was too packed.

And yeah, I wasn't feeling the opener, but when he played "75, Brazil Street", the place went nutso! As soon as those classic horns kicked in the entire place cheered.

That was pretty memorable.

Either way, if I met any of you... nice to meet you. If not, I just moved out here and will be attending more parties to come. ;D

Good point, forgot it was Friday and Insomniac takes over Vanguard then. Anyway, nice job on most everything!

Was listening to VONYC Sessions today and heard a song that really went off last night...Marco V. rmx of Phatzoo's "Twisted Tweak." I think that was the highlight of the night for me, it seemed perfect for the crowd and really built the energy up.

The whole night went so fast, I can't believe it's over!
