A pre-requisite for using the VDJ's should be to first put on a good show musically. The VDJ'ing should really be icing on the top of the cake.

yawn... why would a dj need to work visuals? Whats next a mixer that lets you bartend also?

Who has time to get together music AND art work/video. Sander clearly has a team of people that do this for him. I doubt he is opening up Adobe and working with graphics.

yep, and he's obviously more focused on the music so the graphics and visuals look like they are taking a backseat and happen once in a while

whats the last track on the video?

sounds mad familiar but can't seem to place my finger on it

I'd rather be much more happier if I was to read a track ID then the vocals there for hearing impaired.

That was a little funny but holy shit kid....lay off the laughing gas. Sander has been getting it done for years now....dude is mad talented. Yeah he def has help with the visuals and stuff but why knock him for bringing something new to the table. His last performance at Cielo was average at best but it's very rare that he disappoints. I'm gonna miss not seeing him on the Terrace this year.

edit: holy fuck tards that video WAS SICK!!! Alright I think I just changed my mind about the Terrace lol....gonna try and make it down there for this one party. SANDER FUCKIIIIIN KKKKKKK

all Dj vs DJ + VJ arguements aside... this thing looks REALLY fun to play with.

Ive heard him like 3 times, once at Arc and liek two times at Crobar. All three times he bored me and his set didnt go anywhere. Playing funky is cool but too much funk makes u go what the f***.

Been following him since 2001 and yeah he has his ups and downs.....he went through a phase where he played lots of funky tracks.....I remember that.....but he changes up his style often.....most of the time for the better. I like him because he is very diverse.....some nights he would just say fuck it and drop nasty tribal all night like he used to play and other nights he will play more uplifting stuff. You never know what your gonna get out of him but for me it's always a great time.

I dont think anyone was knocking sander. I wasnt. I liked him at Twilo and the Space terrace.

I was just saying I dont get the whole DJ/VJ combo. Two very different art forms to bring together.

Sander isnt bringing anything new. Pioneer developed and built the mixer, Sander is just the spokes man.

Hey, its another marketing ploy so if people get something out of this thing more power to them.

I was referring to the VDJ's. To my knowledge he is the only real DJ that uses them.

my thoughts exactly!

anyone know what that nasty 'time, change, go on!' track is?

My etch -a-sketch does the same thing....

The visuals are cool, but I think it takes away from the dj. I know when I seen some shows that used dvj or what ever else I was more focused on the screen, and not dancing or really paying attention to the music. I know we all go out for the music, but with this it became background music to a visual show. I am for projected visuals, but not the dj trying to make a show, with videos and the music. Let the visual specialist handle that, and the dj take care of the crowd with their music.

Posted by chupa169 on Feb-12-2008 21:10:

The other thing with this... So lets say buy this. You use it at home and now you need to buy a projection screen or hook up to your tv. ok, not a big deal.

What if you go to dj outside of your room? I dont know any clubs with this mixer so now you have to bring the thing with you. Then, who is to say that the club even has a video system to hook this into? Now you have to un and re hook and all the audio cables into this thing and then hook up all the video feeds, set up a projector a screen... ugh the thought of it makes me exhausted.

There is nothing worse than having a dj before or after you have to hook up his laptop and disconnect everything when you are trying to play. And whats even worse is having to stick around when you are done if someone is after you because they have to use your mixer.

All my FX boxes are all EXTERNAL. I can hook them up with minor efforts and take them when I leave. If vdjing if your thing and you plan of leaving your bedroom just get an external unit. More than likely it will be better and have more features that this does to being with.

excuse me for not being very technically educated with video equipment but do you actually need a projector along with a lcd screen to use this? in the video it looked like they were using HD screens. with a projector you can pretty much project the image on anything like a wall or something......

I wasnt talking specifically to you. I was just giving my thoughts on the mixer.

My guess is the unit has a video out or two and it needs to be projected on somthing. Some clubs have tvs, some places people bring in their own equpt like projectors and set up a rig. Walls work good too.

my bad.....I thought your previous post said "need to buy a projection screen to hook up to your TV" which made me confused.....these things happen when I'm reading TA from my PDA (yeah work gets very slow sometimes lol)

If anybody is interested I found Sanders set from MOS the night this video was recorded. Not sure how long the link will work but it worked for me.

I think it's fucking hot. DJ's don't do shit nowadays but mix intros and outros, it gives one something to do between mixes cuz they sure as hell arent doing tricks

I've seen Sander throw down some pretty good sets over the yr. I always try to make it a point to see him when he is around.
