"Smells like Pirate Spirit" - Thread recreated solely for the lulz.

Since old Tinrib decided to delete his post, I thought I'd recreate the thread just so that the masses can hear this atrocity and marvel at how someone can so willingly promote/try to profit from a stolen sample:

Original Text:

quote:

A gift to say thanks for all your support from Tinrib Digital.
Free Download for all...
The Original is so amazing, rather than hash their story up, kept its energy, enthusiasm, anger, excitement, pain and happiness in this relentless Psy Trance/ Hard Dance Anthem.
This remix took days to make as every single 1/4 beat had to be time stretched to fit to a 4/4 beat!
Kept away from the fashionable Psy chop outs to preserve its future history and keep it in between styles and more accessible for everyone.
A tribute to Kurt Cobain.
Eye Thank You. Enjoy

8:44 @ 145bpm

Currently No.1 in the Trackitdown charts.
And this is just for those who are out of the loop and didnt realize its free at www.tinribdigital.com! A sure winner!

Also, I highly encourage any and all of you to let Primary Wave Music (owners of Nirvana publishing rights) know about it as well.

i agree. pure and utter shit.

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on Feb-13-2008 06:21:

Not worth the free I paid to hear it.

Just a heads up: http://www.primarywavemusic.com

This kind of shit really should not be allowed to stand - bootlegs are one thing, profiting from them is quite the other. And when the end result is a massacre of the efforts of one of my all time favorite bands - well, I'd just like to see it gone.

Don't particularly care - I also happen to have the last line of Cobain's suicide note* tattooed on my back.

*I do realize, however, the last line of the note is also a lyric from a Neil Young song - so yeah, two for one, etc.

Meh - "It's better to burn out, than to fade away." is a pretty prolific line, IMO.

That's actually from my favorite Neil Young song, so you saved some face there.

Absolutely horrible.

I still watch the video of Neil singing that at one of the memorial services for Cobain from time to time. So sad...

And re: Nirvana being cliche - I know, but I can't deny the influence they had on my upbringing. I grew up at just the right time here in the States and for better or worse, my first musical memories/infatuation really stems back to Nirvana.

Edit: Sushi, see above

Posted by gehzumteufel on Feb-13-2008 06:39:

rob, really nirvana was very influential in peoples lives and on music in general. so i dont care how cliche they are, i still love them. awesome music imho.

Good line though. What font/style?

Total shit and on a banner in the middle of a 4 leaf clover.

It was the first tattoo I ever got and it is truly, truly hideous - I am, however, having it re-done and I'm going to just color in the banner with some abstract design and have the line re-done over the top.

Though it was the first tattoo I got and is really poorly done, I really don't regret anything about it and can't wait to have it re-done.

Haha, he deleted it So as I was saying this particular bootleg sounds as good as the House of Pain bootleg Deadmau5 did. And that's not a compliment.

Nirvana is guilty of doing this also. Remember "Come As You Are"? They illegally sampled that song from these guys and were sued for it.

Primary Wave Music owns Courtney Love's share of the publishing rights, she has absolutely no financial stake in Nirvana anymore at all.

Yeah, that's definitely an apt analogy.

Ahhhhhahahahaha.... Oooooook then.

Edit: Also, that lawsuit was either never filed or thrown out of court, so yeah - there's that.

Ha! Didn't know that...bout damn time

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Feb-13-2008 19:23:

that is the most annoying sounds ever used.

Omygoodness. Gave me a headache.

Posted by montana on Feb-13-2008 22:07:

this is almost as bad as skazi's remix.

btw, freeland remix was horrendous aswell.

Posted by a98 on Feb-14-2008 01:18:

doesn't sound bad to me at all, but then again i've never been a fan of grunge so doesn't matter to me if these tracks get raped. the volume balances are a bit off expecially in the chorus, and it might have been better without the whole chorus part. but sounds a lot better than the other remixes i've heard from this track.
