My dad is going to Singapore tomorrow...
... and asked me whether I want something from the island nation. Any recommendations? It must be something cheap and easy to find
Edit: I've got a girlfriend, dammit!
a bride?
so youre not the only member of the family suffering from yellow fever?

He's just got a business meeting there or something
edit: I don't think brides can marry couples, and I really don't think my girlfriend would be happy about it either
Dudette,
I am in Singapore since last 4 months and believe me S'gpore is one hyped up place (though one of the most safest place to be).
The electronics is expensive so stay away. Clothes/accessories are relatively cheap when compared to US; your mileage may vary depending on store your dad visit.
For now I'd say the only exclusive things you'd get here is Malay (Malaysian) and Chinese gift/decoration items.
Have fun

For electronics ask your dad to check out the price of your choice of camera in US (bestbuy.com and circuitcity.com) and then compare the same price in Singapore, if it's slightly expensive i guess it's okay otherwise if the difference is big back out, as simple as that.
Some places he can shop are:
Sim Lim Square, Funan IT mall - it's full of electronics at decent price. At the same time I bought my camera in US some 6 months ago via beachcamera.com for atleast 30% less price than what is available here in Singapore. Either ways he may try checking out Best Denki, Courts and other stores.
Either ways i think Duty free shops are not bad either
I'd strongly recommend any kind of eating utensil, like a soup spoon or a chopstick. If your dad can get them from the Raffles hotel, all the better.

a Kendo stick
Singapore sling from Raffles
Singapore chili crab from Jumbo's
Tiger beer
otherwise, no. Seeing as he won't be able to bring those back you'll just have to go yourself and enjoy Singapore. One of my fave places in the world
Tell your dad to get yo gf a "Jesus make-up kit" from Singapore!

He's back.
He brought me an English-Chinese dictionary, rather than a grammar, but I think it can be useful too (I need to "hack it" first, though
)
