what is wrong with this world....that is so sad. People can't even go to school anymore without living in fear for their lives. So sad.

I didn't know a tripod could do so much carnage.

Posted by zoogla on Feb-15-2008 04:18:

They should honour the dead but never report these events.

Posted by Yohan on Feb-15-2008 06:26:

you can't stop a lunatic from carrying out these kinds of attacks.

very sad.

RIP to those students

lol what?

I'm with you on over-sensationalizing them, but I still think they should at least be reported. Problem is, even if CNN just had a quick blurb about it, people would talk about it on their own. It's big news either way you look at it. The only way this can not receive so much attention is if it happened so often that the public stopped caring.

Sadly, I'm already there as I didn't even bother clicking the MSNBC link to find out more.

(I'd only be interested if someone beat Cho's high score)

Fine, it can be geographically distinctive to some countries, but are we not the same fucking human race? Is this not one of "our" issues as a civilisation?

RIP

4th school shooting in the US within 1 week too. Why do these things keep happening?

Come on Vrk. We only have to go back 18 years to see some pretty crazy stuff going on in your country.

No homeland has an unblemished history.

On Feb. 8 a woman shot two fellow pupils to death before killing herself at Louisiana Technical College in Baton Rouge. This past Monday a 17-year-old was accused of shooting and critically wounding a fellow student in gym class at a Memphis, Tenn. high school. And a 15-year-old has been declared brain dead after being shot at a junior high school in Oxnard, Calif.

Right. You guys are too preoccupied with civil war and genocide.

Good thing your schools are safe.

That implies that we all of civilization co-exists as a whole, that we are united, work together, and so on and so forth; hardly the case. This IS more specific to certain countries. I don't really know what that says.

attitudes like this is what will constantly drive humanity apart.

there's a reason why the word humanity exists. everyone is in it, together

ohhh. but, question: are these shootings "personal?" What I mean is, did the other shootings stem from personal reasons between the shooter and the victim...... as opposed to a random shooting spree like the recent university shootings (v-tech, etc)??

I only ask, because if we are going to talk about all the personal shootings, then I have had 3 JUST outside my school this year (we have metal detectors at every door, but there are many stabbings and shootings and even MORE fights very regularly here). But they are more personal (gang stuff, etc) than random shit. I dont even get scared here because if you just mind yo bizniz, its never YOU that they are shooting at.

weird, I know. I am very desensitized here in the BX.

imo, setting that kind of precedent would do more damage than any lone gunman ever could
