straight techno making a comeback?
hehe i hope so.
i just noticed in juno this week releases under techno.
http://www.juno.co.uk/techno/this-week/
mostly straight banging techno whohooo, no really i think i heard like 3 minimal records there. you can see how the advent has 4 releases this month whoa! banging, plus whats up with all this spanish labels, they are really bringing the straight stuff up.
its no joke i mean even john askew known mostly for trance made banging track check the sample.

dunno if he made this in the past but i would never guessed he'll make something like this. for some reason reminds me to a bit to the dimitri andreas remix of mojado - naranja hehe
anyway you guys probably are over that sound allready but its my cup of tea, the stuff i used to and still love, just nice to see that its being supported a lot this days hehe. i like my minimal but the hard stuff never left me.
this stuff brings memories, i even heard creator play stuff like this when circus just opened.
now if i can find a way to get this records played by carola, beyer, etc. hehe
I dunno if its making a surge, but Ill always take a full on techno set over the minimal glitchy kind.. so your not alone on that
Hell yea my Techno brotha! Its in our blood! Im happy to see its makin a comeback. In the last year it was very quiet and hard to come by. I noticed lately as well that its been popping up much more often. The only problem is convincing guys like Creator, Yaz etc to start playing stuff like that which is very unlikely.

hey kate nice to hear from you again.
i heard that fractal one. excellent tracks. and yeah some of this guys went way to soft for me hehe, i mean liebing played slow sometimes but he always has those banging tracks also plus the stuff he made was good , for example the one with sims was a great track.
so hopefully this sounds starts showing a little bit again.
yeah I agree - Liebing managed to keep some semblance of his 'older style'... unlike someone such as Barbara who basically just shifted genres completely (I would loooove to hear her play a bangin set again though, however unlikely that would be)
I haven't really been a fan of Liebing's CLR releases since that Sims EP in 2005... but I did pick up that A, B C & D release last year... a few goodies on that one!
A producer I have been missing lately though is Henrik B... I think he is mostly producing house now which is a shame, Illgorhythm is one of my favourite techno labels ever. Thomas Krome has also practically disappeared, but I noticed he had a handful of UK bookings recently.
On the harder tek side, a producer I have really been into lately is Ogi, I think I have bought maybe 6 out of his last 8 releases.
yeah henrik got to the other side with house, for a while i tought the wame will happen with hertz but he managed to keep his techno sound kinda intact with his sway label, always good things from there. as for ogi, i find harder than the usual, like almost going to the dark side haha with the viper xxl, frank kvitta stuff, maybe hes not as hard now, been a while since i heard his stuff.
been really liking the new liebing stuff...
yeah I have still been picking up most of the Sway releases, and was impressed with Hertz's set when I saw him at Awakenings last year. I've also been consistently buying Wehbba records, a lot of fun tracks!
As for Ogi, most of the releases of his that I have are from the past year or so, some of it is a bit much for sure, but I find he has a nice harder style... as opposed to Arkus P or Wittekind releases which I tend to just skip over.
I miss techno talk! Raul I have no idea what Yaz is up to but I havent heard anything about him for a while. Henrik B used to be really bangin till he made those two toons overun and I forget the other. Cave is still going strong and so is Boriqua Tribez I see a lot of releases from them during the last year. Misstress was really good at doing the techno thing especially on turntables, I miss it!
just downloaded this set from a friend of mine, haven't heard it in awhile but it is one of my favs of his... sweet tracklisting too (I still play the last record quite a bit) nostalgia
(thought it would be appropriate in this thread... hehe)
