Wow I aint doin so good...

Sometimes I think the universe is plotting against me:
Lets see... I'm under so much stress I can't sleep without sleeping pills (I guess gunfire and explosions do that), and when I do sleep all I get in nightmares; my girl left me on valentines day, I broke 4 fingers today (got caught on some webbing climbing out of my humvee), and now my medic says that the reason my back hurts so much is he thinks I have a "herniated disk." Fucking teriffic.

Sorry I just needed to vent... anyone have some words of encouragement for a lonely hurting soldier who just wanst to go home?

Don't get too down mate. At the end of the day, the only way to go is up so you'll heal up and things will be better. We've all had those truly shit periods in our life but you can look back on them later on in life and smile at what you went through

The war won't last forever. Keep your head up, because you're going to return sooner or later, and then you can have the happiness you deserve

The year sucks... I went through it...

its all worth it when you return home and realize how much money you have... also at the time when I was there I told myself how much I hated it and never would wish it on anyone, but looking back its almost like going back over wouldnt be so bad...

Iraq gives you some of the highest highs and some of the lowest lows... emotional rollercoaster...

YEah you're right.. I only have about 3 months left (shit... not even that) so one day at a time.. it is a rollercoaster - one day you're laughing because you threw a water balloon at a donkey, the next day ur buddy takes a round in the neck. Shitty.

Well, I'm still good so are most of my mates cant wait to get home

I can't speak from experience because I haven't been there yet, but hang in there man - that's a lot of crap to deal with, just keep taking it one day at a time like you said. Just think, less than 90 days and you'll be home!

I've got utmost respect for - and pride in - all the guys (and girls) like you who are in the suck and continue to kick ass.

i remember at our predeployment briefings that the dear john letters come at 90 days in and 90 days to go... i guess this fits with the standard thinking...

I don't think you can compare the two - cheating spouse/being in combat - they both suck. A lot. I don't think I'd prefer one over the other.

Complaining about being in combat is just as stupid as if I were to complain about catching a cold from someone sick at work (I'm a nurse).

Somehow I think those are just a little bit different.

I don't think someone that willfully enlists in the Army can complain about being in combat...what did they expect to happen?
