Alone in the Dark 5, fun with sticky tape

A neat tech demo for the "real world rules" game mechanics of Alone in the Dark 5.

Man, I had no idea this was even in the making! Played 1-3 religiously... started 4 but never really got into it. I remember how freaky the first ones were. Only downside is that its looking more like a fps that the thriller I remember. Still pick it up of course.

there's a NASTY rumour going around (due to box art) that this is gonna be vista only. fuck ill be an unhappy camper is its true

Out of curiosity PKC, what are you running? I'm assuming just XP - but have seen stranger things...

Didn't they try Vista only with the first round of DX10 games only to have it fail? As long as XP users are abundant, I'm sure someone will find a way.

just xp. i always wait years before upgrading OS, im of the old-school "if it aint broke dont fix it!" crowd. too many probs upgrading imo, and i just wanna play games!

dx10 runs like dog's balls too apparently so there's the only reason for upgrading gone.

since atari has so many financial probs at the moment i would be VERY surprised if they've made this vista only.

For some reason, I thoroughly enjoyed my PS experience of Alone in the Dark: New Nightmare and this one looks phenomenal. Didn;'t really think they could salvage this series, especially with Atari at the helm, but it looks like I'm going to be proved wrong.

Carnby is in NYC for this one which makes it all the more interesting.

That inventory interface is cool as fuck too

Shoot a bottle of fuel in the air to turn it into a bomb.

Seriously cool.

There is only so much one can do on a budget of 600 Though i could easily upgrade it with a better graphics card and a bit more ram for a small price i just cant be bothered

Of course. Cars, boats, PCs etc are always girls.

PCs cost you a shitload of money, don't always do as they're told, and you're forced to get a new one every few years. How are they not girls?

Posted by BTG on Apr-23-2008 01:28:

ohhhhh.. i see.

so what happens when you get a used car/boat/pc?
