Denys Envy - February Mix 2008 [Deep & Somewhat Progressive House]

mediafire.com (click on "download now")

link here

below is a random pretty image (this one of baltimore) that seem to be so popular to include -

My first installment of the new year, something completely different in terms of genre from what I've put out in the past. I'm really being influenced by my new location for over two years now (Baltimore, MD). There's a great music scene here that's somewhat underrated. If you ever get the chance, do visit, contact me and I'll show you around. Anyway enough about Baltimore and on to the music.

Tracklist:

1. Satoshi Tomiie - Solar Wind (DJ Yellow's Intermission Remix) [Saw Recordings]
2. Fading Ocean In Too Deep (Nick Hogendoorn & Eelke Kleijn Remix) [Outside the Box Music]
3. Budai & Vic Once Again [Plastic City]
4. Steve Ferrand The Music [Urbantorque]
5. Sebastian Davidson Where We Are [Deepology]
6. The Timewriter Handsome Machine [Plastic City]
7. Interplay Exposure [Add2Basket]
8. David Penn & Peter Gelderblom Insane (Baggy Begovic & Soul Conspiracy Remix) [Urbana Recordings]
9. Anthony Collins Cannibale (Tom Clark & Daniel Dreier Remix) [Highgrade Records]
10. Da Hool Light My Fire [PIAS Germany]
11. D. Ramirez & Mark Knight Colombian Soul (Funkagenda Wombat Crossing Remix) [Toolroom]
12. Satoshi Tomiie - Solar Wind (DJ Yellow's Intermission Remix) [Saw Recordings]

A few notes:

1. Opening and closing tune is the same but I didn't use it to its full extent, for those expecting the full 9+ mins of this great tune at the beginning and end... well... sorry to disappoint/happy to surprise (all depending on what you were looking for).
2. My right deck kept slipping on me, there's a couple of "touch up" moments you'll notice. It's nothing out of the ordinary and definitely always a part of live mixing. I'm not flawless, I'm human
3. And finally I really hope you enjoy this, personally I feel that this is my best work yet. I'm finally discovering that sound I really want to play and produce after dabbling in progressive/minimal/tech over the past few years.
4. I do believe most tracks can be found on beatport.com (if you're digging some and looking to find them).

CHEERS! Comments appreciated.

Definitely...that track is hot.

Great mix... it got mildly boring for me in a part or two but the couple of gems in this mix made it well worth it. That first/last track is nice as well.

thanks for the listen

Man, this is exactly the kind of sound i've been wanting to get into, and judging by those labels and the track's i recognized, i just can't wait to get my hand's on this!

I suck at reviews but i'll try to sum up some opinions.

it seriously took me five years to finally settle on this type of sound. i've done of a lot of playing around; more funky, more progressive, prog trance, etc. but over the last year i've discovered deep is where its at.

hope you likey!

Yeah, I feel you here, I've been playing all sorts of different stuff from electro to progressive, but I keep coming back to a deeper sound. It's real satisfying to spin, too, getting into that deep groove...

40 mins in and loving this mix. I'll come back with more thoughts when I'm done.

another cool part about deep house, at least from my personal perspective, is that it works great as an opening, middle of the night, or afterhours music. if done right you can rock a dancefloor at any time.

hey its not really called deep anal mix.

downloading, but under protest.

it should at least get you in the mood for some deep anal.

While i'll admit right off the bat that i have really moved away from listening to this type of stuff, I will say that i enjoyed listening to it quite a bit. Great stuff to put on while making a meal and having a glass of wine. (this is what i did ) It really reminded of me of this little lounge i used to go to when i lived in Florida. Nice work, very smooth.

smooth is what i was going for. smooth, lubed-up, deep, anal love.

OK, finished it finally - awesome set, really really enjoyed this! Love this sound. Colombian Soul - always a good choice.

Posted by Az on Feb-27-2008 16:43:

gonna give this a listen, even though i fucking despise columbian soul

i guess the opinion is split on Colombian Soul. but personally i really like Funkagenda's vision on this. the keys don't come in until way later in the version and feel a bit more proper than the original. most of it is just really good deep house, and that bassline is ace!

thanks for the listen camshaft.

really enjoyed the first third of this mix, there's a few tracks here that I'd shamefully ignored, but the ends nowhere near as techno as I'd hoped
mixing was better than i expected after what you'd said, shall be going on the mp3 player
