I'm moving to Vancouver :)

Looks like from the end of August I'll be in Vancouver.
Just been accepted for studies at British Columbia

Just trying to organise a visa (what a mission)... but looks like I should be moving from South Africa (something like a 28 hour plane journey stopping off somewhere).

It's weird, if I fly via Hong Kong, I leave Hong Kong at 16:30 in the afternoon and arrive in Vancouver at about 11:30, it's an eleven hour flight, so I gain something like 16 hours...

Summerlove? Sounds interesting, details?

Thanks.

Summerlove is the biggest lower outdoor party in the lower mainland, two years ago 20,000 people were in attendance, last year i think 10,000 were there.

Worm Popper

Oh, yeah! The 11-hour flight makes me very tired. I flew from Japan to Van last summer, and a person beside me changed her seat, so I got 2 seats!!! I felt like that I was in the business-class. If you are gonna live in North Van, I'm here~~~

Zummy, I should be staying on the campus of UBC (I hope, otherwise I'm out of housing ....)

Can I throw a couple of questions at all of you, need a bit of info which I haven't been able to find out??? It's just a few questions about stuff in Vancouver and all.

I'm also asking as a bit of a vinyl mule, will be bringing across my vinyl (still working out how though) amongst which will be at least one vinyl for Patticus which I found and he has been searching for

Just received my formal admission acceptance stuff - wohooo, now I need to organise me'self a visa.

Thanks
A.

i say we should have a van TA party, period. or at least a small get together or something. its the least we can do, we all live so close by each other and know each other already so why not meet up. the worst case scenario, we'll finally end up doing out big van TA party

hehe, thanks InsomnEac

I'd definitely like to meet up with the Van TA's. Perhaps Summer Love if there's a trance area?

Which of the Van TA's have met before? I know a couple of you met when Robbie came up from Florida.

I'm booked to arrive in Vancouver on 22 August sometime. That is if my visa application is approved...

So it might take me a couple of days to get net access etc. I don't think I'll have a telephone. But I should be easy to find, I'll have the weird South African accent

there are tons of internet cafes around, so internet access shouldn't be too hard to find for a few bucks. there's a place at the village at ubc. and there are other places like at the student union building where you have free net access.

yep, i was there on the reserve in '00.. I don't know it was 20000 people, but it was alot.. I was dumbstruck looking at the scenario of people. 4 djs playing at once with different styles. I could hear two different styles when standing between the two dj booths. LOL

the highlight of the night was seeing topless chicks waiting to get their nipples pierced.

Posted by Widget on Jun-09-2002 11:58:

hehe, thanks apri_peel. South African accents are great, except ppl sometimes confuse us with Australians *shudder*, no idea how...

I'll get around to a box with net access as soon as I can get there, I just might have a whole whack of stuff to organise as soon as I arrive there though.

I'm trying to organise a way at the moment to brign my vinyl across to Vancouver, proving to be a potentially expensive exercise.

you're not allowed to just put your vinyls in your pack and bring them with you? or do you wanna bring lots of your vinyls?

I'm bringing all my vinyl with me

At the moment, just over 100. I'll probably end up getting them sent across with some cargo company since I'm not allowed to take them on the plane with me unfortunately.

Why don't you buy a flight case for your records and just check them in?

yep, that's what I am getting prices on at the moment. Unfortunately a 25kg cargo sending is a little expensive.

Either way it will be expensive, but it is better than leaving them a home.

So what are some of your favorite tracks that you own?

Hmm, having to think on my feet here (don't have my tracks in front of me)

Signum - Cura Me
Aquanuts - Deep Sea
Allure - We Ran at Dawn (Allure = Tiesto)
Tillmann Uhrmacher - On the Run

That's some of the newer stuff I've recently got.
