-- so my fingernail is going to fall off...
so my fingernail is going to fall off...
story goes i was workin, and was moving a cinder block, but the grips on the gloves were worn out really badly, and i diddnt get a proper hold on the thing...so it basically slips, ad sandwhiches my index finger between another block...it felt like it ripped my skin apart, so i took te glove off,,,but it looked ok, 5 minutes later, it was getting darker ( the nail) very quickly..45 minutes later it was completely black....it dddnt hurt much for the first couple of hours.....but eventully pressure started to build it i couldnt handle it....so i went to emergency....even tho i thought that wasnt concdered that uge of emergency, i just wanted to let some of the blood out....so the pretty much had this little gadget that heated up very quickly, and the pierced my nails twice to let some of the blood out...it diddnt help right away, but after a couple extra strength migrane pills, nd a bowl...i felt better....but now i m expecting my nail to come off....anyone else have something like this happen to them??? im sure it has...maybe some advice and how to make myself feel better once it pops off???
scary
if it does come off, it should grow back eventually
my Mom once closed a car door on her thumb, and 90% of her nail came off
it will take a while to heal though!
Did you file with a claim with WSIB??
you know who to call buddy...we can help haha
Yeah i had a manatee in heels step on my toe one time at the club and crack my nail in half, my toe grew a new new nail and pushed the broken one off slowly till it fell off. what sucked most is i had to wear shoes at the beach all summer

I have a toe nail that continues to fall off about every 3-4 months. Its been happening for about two years now....it all started after a 18 hour dance-a-thon at Guv then CZ. I was wearing my dancing/bowling shoes.....haven't worn them since.
i closed a metal door on my finger once by accident, one of those in between the trains.
couldnt sleep for a couple of days, eventually a new one grows but it takes a long time, about 4months i'd say.

happened to me before playing baseball... my pointer finger nail came between a hardball and an aluminum bat. it swelled up like a mother******, and i went to the ER cause i couldn't take the pain anymore. when i got there it was like i had a third, purple thumb... they drilled a hole through the nail and blood started squirting out :S it fell off a few days later... it's really annoying having a sensitive finger for weeks

my thumbnail fell off after a door was slammed on it when i was a kid. then the nail on my index finger after i broke that finger in a work related accident when i used to be a machine operator. they grew back eventually in a couple of months. felt very uncomfortable for the first few weeks though.

I've done this twice...well, not with a cinder block, but you get the idea.
The first time, the nail went black, I had it lanced and the nail just kept growing until all the black disappeared, I thopugh for sure I would have lost it.
The second, the nail ripped off in a cycling accident.
It's going to be very uncomfortable for a few days. I suggest you dress it and keep it clean, and get a finger splint to prevent bumping it...that was the worst part. You'll have a new nail to show off in a few weeks.
I currently have only 9 toenails. The 10th one is hanging on by a small piece of skin and I'm keeping it there with band aid for as long as possible. However, instead of something hitting my toe I've had someone pull the nail straight off - less painfull, yet much more blood
From what I know the idea is to protect the nailbed as much as possible thereby ensuring proper nail growth in the future.
i've done this,, but only as a result of playing street hockey,, oh i miss those days.. instead of going to the hospital i just took my dads drill and drilled threw the nail..
makes me cringe every time i hear about these things
shit dude .... sorry to hear about that
