Virus TI + Vista
hmm anyone else running this configuration? 2.5.1.02 says it has beta Vista support but when i load up the Virus Control (after installing the drivers) i get this:

am i missing a step, alrdy emailed Access but they're usually a few days to respond. thx
Yep I'm running Access Control on Vista and no problems installing & configuring.
I have many other problems with Vista and general sound though. Vista is crap!! My Virus goes out of sync about 2 mins into my new tune on Cubase. As a result when I do the mixdown, I end up with a glitch!!
Why are you guys using Vista to produce on? Reno I know why you are based on your other thread, but Anthony, any reason? I'm just curious is all I like to get feedback about Vista.
all my software apps are vista compatible and i actually really like vista lol. only crash i have is from my MOTU ultralite, happens once in a while and i think i know what the issue is.
the installation of the drivers goes thru, i plug/ungplug my virus per its instructions then when it gets to the "firmware" update it just has the ability to quit, not update.
i'm guessing because the firmware is already updated on my virus.
anyone else?
Isn't that the error you get when you forget to plug in the usb cable? Kinda dumb i know, but it happens a lot to me anyway.
its plugged in
Umm silly question but I presume you had your Virus switched on when you launched Virus control via Cubase or whatever.
when you switch it on you will actually hear the windows ding sound as though you've plugged in an external device.
If you managed to get through the actual installation which won't install unless connected to the Virus then I can't see why you should have issues. There's nothing to it really.
As for why I'm using Vista!! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Cause I don't want to rebuild this bloody pc again!!
Anthony this may or may not apply to you.... but I had the same problem with XP for no reason. It just happened out of no where. I ended up uninstalling all Access software/drivers from the Control Panel and manually deleted any other files left over in Program Files. I then reinstalled the drivers/firmware (there was a new firmware update at the time) and everything started working again.

so still not fixed but after a hunch i found out i was right... most of these new PC's with front panel USB slots are not independent USB slots, they're hub'd. after plugging my virus into the back of my computer it atleast recognized the device.
now i get "USB Connection Established" ... 2 sec later "USB Connection Lost"
gaaaaaaaaaay
^^ I've seen that happen with other audio interfaces on a variety of other Vista computers. Have you tried all of the USB ports on the back of the computer?
well believe it or not, i swaped out USB cables and its working 100% now.
yeah i tend to ALWAYS make things more complicated then they are : /
