Beatport Article on DJ Kaenow!

Check out this awesome article Beatport posted about our very own DJ Kaenow!

The Vanishing Point reaches 30,000 downloads

"In todays global-internet saturated culture, it gets pretty difficult to stand out from the rest, no matter what field youre in.

Dance music, and dance musics culture accounts for a significant share of internet downloads and page views in todays world.

EDM related searches rank within the Top 10 of google searches last year.

Maybe you have podcast youre trying to get noticed (dont we all?).

Deon Butler is a success story in this iEMPIRE, taking a radio show from the nineties and bringing it to tne 21st century.

DJ Kaenow (Deon Butler) has been a DJ for just over ten years now. Kaenow began his musical journey at the age of 13, and began melding vinyl beats not long after. After graduating from high school he attended Florida International University, where he first started his career as a radio DJ.

FIU owns a college radio station that was up and coming at the time (Radiate FM/wrgp.org/88.1). His first show aired in 1999 called The Vanishing Point, encompassing the EDM genres popular at the time: Progressive, Trance, House and Tribal. The radio show was a hit and aired for over five years giving Kaenow a chance to influence a large part of Miamis underground dance culture.

It also gave local artists and DJs a chance to air their music. The radio station soared to new heights making it one of the most listened to college radio stations in Miami, eventually winning the Miami New Times best Radio Station in 2007.

The Vanishing Point had a high listener base so Kaenow and his partner, David Alexander, decided to take the show live every Saturday night. Their residency was held at Club Zanzibar, on palm tree-lined Washington Avenue in South Beach, Florida. The live mixes from Zanzibar seeped through Miamis radios, and infected many with what I affectionately call the house bug. At this point in time, the electronic music scene in Miami was growing exponentially, rivaling the typical Pop/Hip-Hop that ruled Saturday Night parties on Miami Beach.

Underground/Pirate Radio Stations and Raves were taking Miami by storm. Kaenow & Alexander were at the top of Miamis playlist, and were performing under the moniker System Shock. After finishing his residency at Zanzibar, Kaenow graced the decks at some of South Floridas most legendary clubs and festivals from the likes of, Amnesia, KGB/The Mission, Shadow Lounge, Liquid, Club Space, Ultra Music Festival and Zen Festival.

Kaenow was made a great offer, and subsequently brought The Vanishing Point radio show online with a new host, party107.com. Soon after, The Vanishing Point went online with iTUNES, creating an enhanced Podcast for download. Recently, TVP reached 30,000 downloads, making Kaenows show one of the most listened to and downloaded EDM shows in the world. He also received a sponsorship from Apple and iTUNES. Look out Dance Department!

Over the past ten years, Kaenow has released a good number of tracks and countless mixes. You can find many of them through Kaenows MySpace (www.myspace.com/djkaenow).

Recently, Kaenow has taken the show on the road, bringing TVP across the USA. For the 2008 Winter Music Conference, Kaenow will be spinning many places, but The Vanishing Point is hosting a party at Club ORA (717 Washington Ave, Miami Beach) on Monday, March 24, first day of the Conference. Kicking off at ten p.m. and stretching until five a.m. Top artists will join Kaenow for a Tweaking of the Minds. Like the Beatport parties, this one is free, and as Kaenow said ...it isnt for money or fame or anything like that. Its for my friends, family, fans, and most importantly, the music and our ability as DJs to spread it.

Kaenow also hosts other radio shows, his schedule is as follows: The day break on Sense.FM, fridays; Area33 on Sirius Satellite Radio, weeknights from 10-11pm EST, and of course, The Vanishing Point on Party107.com, airing Mondays."
