Tiesto + Paul Van Dyk

Any idea guys why these glorified uplifting trance producers are gone such whimps in their productions....Does it mean the more famous you get, the more commercial you get....I think these two producers need to know where they started and what inspired them initially.
Tiesto's remix for britany spears is absolutely awfull.
How long more till Armin joins these two ?
Lets hear some views ?

I was thinking the same thing.

Its a marketing thing, Tiesto, Ferry and Armin used to make loads of music using different aliases. But as you all have noticed, they all ended up using one name.

Tiesto has always been trapping in the footsteps of Oakenfold, hence he is also remixing shitloads of commercial tunes. (i guess he lacks the knowledge and interest in making music for movies though) I dont mind the tunes at all though, as long as they sound good.

Also, is common human behaviour to always crave for more, thats is why none of these can never be famous enough.

Good point. Plus, in all reality, these guys peak and it's all downhill from there. They can never earn back their status as it once was. I am not sure if people just get tired of their style or it's just that their creativity is spent...

Posted by Lucidity on Feb-23-2008 13:24:

They most likely get bored.

Posted by sterilis on Feb-23-2008 14:27:

its all about the money once they hit the big time.

i remember an interview pvd did and he was bashing all the cheesy people for making trance unpopular. now he's jumped on their bandwagon. i think they do it to break america to be honest. solid deep trance doesnt stand a chance in america as its not commercial so these big artists throw in a cheesy vocal and few cheesy riffs and the americans love them.

therefore more gigs equals more money.

damn true, it was not that long ago too

On the other hand, with all the extensive touring they don't have nearly as much time to produce as they used to either.

Tiesto doesn't write any of his own songs. PVD I would think so. Tiesto tours way too much to be putting out all of that nonsense.

Oh don't even start with that.

Who writes them then? The magical fairy people from behind the fridge?

Fuck some people are dense

At least Tiesto still makes pretty good tracks. PVD has been making rubbish and Armin hasn't had an even decent release in a couple of years.

Shame

I've heard about tiesto not writing his own songs, apparently he has a team that does all the hard work and he just ok's it.....come to think about it, maybe it's true, maybe he switch from classy trance producers to crappy electro/house/commercial producers.

The best tracks from these artist were back in the days when they were really trying...now it's milk the freak'n industry, the gigs and get as many artist on their labels.

if their peak is over, it's time for them to step aside and let new talent in the market...while they setup a house in america and try to crack the biggest music industry with minimal passion....these guys are gone bloody jokes now, why do people bother voting for them in the DJ mag poll............

And once again this isn't true? Where exactly did you hear this? He writes his own tracks, just like everyone else does. The only difference is that he uses someone to make his ideas into reality and doesn't do all the work himself. That's the role of an engineer and I see nothing wrong with that. An engineer could be technically brilliant but if he doesn't have the musical talent then he's still going to make shit.
Therefore the argument that he doesn't write his own tracks is rubbish, especially since it has been known for a while that he uses an engineer to help him and also others when he collaborates with them.

Team Tiesto..

The dude is way too busy to have put out the material that he has these past few years.

Touchy touchy...

jealousy?

Posted by factory81 on Feb-24-2008 15:19:

I wonder if one of their goals is to get more exposure to electronic music.

I will be the first to admit it, if it wasn't for Armin Van Buuren I would not be in to electronic music.

Everyone says the money is in touring and I think we would all....go for the money.
Once you have a chance to move from "not rich" to "rich"...I think you would go for the rich too.

Just like you and I...Armin wants an Audi S4 (or insert random expensive car here), a multi thousand square foot pad, but I draw the line at platinum plated Access keyboards.

Whenever I wrote this out last night I was wearing my Tiesto In Concert shirt, one of three that I own and wearing a Technics hat signed by the man himself on three different occassions.

In my loft I have some of his records hanging on my wall. I love the guys productions but I feel that at times he may not be able to write all of his songs. Parade of athletes and just be, both released in 2004 come to mind.

Have you ever read the credits from his album booklets?

Posted by darkt on Feb-24-2008 19:54:

anyone with some music theory can come up with melodies/pads and say oh, I like the feel to go something like....blahaahahahaha
so that is ridiculous, if you can't sit and produce it, it should not be your song.
the hardest part to making music is getting the production right....and obviously you need some creativity too if you want to sound special.

tiesto/pvd must stop entertaining dance fans and meanwhile producing other kinds of music cos all they are doing is making us fools.

the real stars are guys like push, rank 1, airwave, daft punk....no were on the dj charts but true to the scene.

Amen, but sadly for us we just can't resist trying to correct them and then they go and say something even stupider. Just makes you even more sad
