difference between st-100 and str8-100 ?

STR8-100 has a straight tonearm, ST-100has a S-shaped tonearm.
Obviously you didn't look close enough

obviously i'm a tt newbie

and what's better , the straight tone-arm or the s-shaped one ?

the "s" shaped tonarm is what you want if you are mixing dance music. It causes less wear on the records. The strait tonarm is for scratch mixing where your main focus is to not have your needle jump the groove.

dude, don't get them, they suck. I had one of those before i for techs, and i hated them, the thign with their motor is fucked up. Like let's say u wanna speed your record up by pushing the record forward, on techs it's nice and smooth, but on stanton's the motor spins really fast for a second or so, AFTER you take your hand off of the record.
