mode slave untitled project [256kb] [Minimal/Tech-House] [W.I.P]

whyyy hellooooo. started this track today, not very dynamic as of yet but i think some of you will get where i'm going with this. has a lot of polishing to go through but so far i like what i've got.

all the percussion (except for the kick/snare) was recorded by moi. i think it kind of adds to the atmosphere a bit. anyway...tell me what ya think

download here

very nice, the samples are great, apart from that distortion at the end
it needs more percussion work though, as it lacks drive
good stuff though

i'm only posting to say i love it. which i do. cos... yeah.

p.s. say yes!

You've definitely got the m_nus vibe going with the percussion on this one - I really like the string and keys samples towards the end, but in general the percs really just kill the vibe of this one for me.

That isn't to say that I want anything all together banging or anything like that, but some nice high end perc work would do this one pretty nicely. It really just seems like the vibe you're going for with this one might just be better suited to using the samples and such you used at the end very (for lack of a better term) minimally, and then filling out the rest of the tunes profile with very lush sounding percussive elements.

Obviously this is all personal preference and if that's not at all what you're going for with the tune I can dig that too, but so far so good -As an initial concept I really like what you've got going here and definitely look forward to seeing where it goes from here.

I really, really like where you're going with this one. I'll have to stick around for updates.

fuck'n A+ mate.
smooth as

The thing this doesn't lack, at all, is atmosphere! Nice vibe going on here.

I honestly don't think it needs super-driving percs or anything like that, it's going well in this smooth, chilled way. I like the percs as it is, might improve with a little tweak or something but it doesn't need anything major.

Biggest concern is that the track might be going nowhere: all atmosphere, no content? It is possible to make a good track only out of atmosphere without any big leads or anything, but you need to get creative that way.

Keep doing what you're doing.

I like it a lot jupiterone. I agree with noikeee about the atmosphere, it's got a good feeling to the song.

thanks dude.

what sucks though is i'm at the verge of completely reconstructing this. i can't think of anything to add. i kind of want to keep it stripped and repetitive but then again i'm not completely sure. hmmph choices, choices.

u should add an african baboons mating call timestretched till a minute or so. always does the trick for me

i like this man. I think you could amp it up a bit by bringing some of the subtle perc work you hear in the background more to the forefront. You have to strain a bit to hear them, if they were more out in front they would make a good track an even better one.

Try and listen to Bruno Pronsato - Why Can't We Be More Like Us artist Cd. I'm not saying rip him off, but its along similar lines to this if inspiration is needed. Keep me posted its cool.

send this to archipel Sounds kinda like Somfay too.

Love the original sounding samples...too much recycled shit being used these days, when I start making tunes I intend to try and use as much as possible stuff I've recorded myself or pulled from odd sources.

I could see this getting a more clubby remix and like Freak said pushing some of those elements further up front, maybe adding a punchier radioslave like mini bassline.

Highly atmospheric bordering on ambient! Ahh I wanna hear some bass riffs or something Good sounds.

Posted by nefardec on Mar-04-2008 00:07:

i love it where it is in the sample

the only thing i can imagine would be little sexy guitar riffs that fade in and out of the background

an example is rhythm & sound - see mi version (basic reshape)

but honestly i would play it in its current state

i don't think a track like this needs drive. it just chugs along nicely and then you can always mix in something with an offbeat hi hat to give it drive as a DJ.

thanks all!

that's a pretty outstanding album i must say so, really rich in textures. karloff & rrygular have some pretty amazing stuff too. which reminds me, i need to go digging / research for more similar, quirky labels.
