Review: Deadmau5 and James Zabiela @ Guv
Party's still going strong...wasn't feeling Zabiela so I left early.
Wow, Deadmau5 totally delivered. Ripped the Guv a new arsehole. Bomb after bomb. New lighting totally kicked ass and it almost sounded like the sound was improved because the bass lines from Deadmau5 were so dirty. Just loved the prog/whatever-you-call-it he played. Nice change from the trance I normally listen to.
Was really cool to see Deadmau5' posse supporting him. Parents, siblings, friends. Was a really cool atmosphere and vibe and it was a pleasure to witness his first major gig in T.O. I will be watching out for this kid!
wtfs of the night:
- Random people jumping up onto the edge of the DJ booth trying to high-five Deadmau5 right as he's in the middle of transitioning between tracks!
- okay that was the only
Going to sleep now, I'm deadf4y.
Best review ever Fahad !!!

sick sick party! this was my official guv return after a nice break from it. so glad i went. i was also reminded of the reasons i hate it. haha.
deadmau5 was unreal. flawless mixing. bomb after bomb with some nice prog in between. joel... your dad is sick!!! lol. had some pretty good conversations with him. he said to me "5 years ago i was yelling at him to turn that shit off, now look at him... now i'm bugging him to let me drive the limo"... and you followed up with that saying "there is one place you never thought you would take your parents...... guvernment". i then said "at least your parents are proud of you at guv... imagine my parents seeing me at guv right now... lol
anyways... i had to leave early to go to work. but i'm sure the party is still ragin' on. good job deadmau5... wish i could've stayed for more of zabiela. lookin' forward to the reviews.
lol...good times...highlight of the evening was Joel trying to get back into the guv, yelling at the bouncer, "I was the headliner tonight, let me in!!". All in all, very proud of the telent. Zabiela was good times, tossing in a whole bunch of randomness.
Side note: Acid Lounge sucks compared to Gallery. I hope they fix it up...and soon.

Mau5 was (surprisingly) splendid, JZ was better
p.s. anyone know what track JZ played around 5:30 like a looped fucking UFO taking off and landing, over and over again
Anyone that knows me would know that I don't like house at all, there are a few exceptions like electro house and James Zabiela. Put Deadmau5 and James Zabiela in one room and it was the best house (non-trance) event I have ever been to.
Where was the big mau5 head Joel?!?!
More review coming after, and for anyone that missed the show, I got a nice lil video of James Zabiela for everyone
DEADMAU5 Shirts FTW!!!
WoW just Wow ... what a great night. Deadmau5 and James Zabiela in one night was by far one of the best parties i have been too. Thanx to shaya for the free passes !!!
Deadmau5 was good but not my fav set of his, he played what a main room set should sound like personally i like the style he plays at more intimate venues vs. "big room".
Zabiela blew me away just sheer awesomeness, great build ups with killer drops and just an epic set overall 10/10.
this is one for the record books 10/10
thanks for a wicked night!
Jz
Zabiela was BANANANAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
deadmau5 - well played budd!!! loved the last 30 mins
i think zabiela dropped a remix of Steve Lawler - Violet but i can't put my fninger on which one it was. Whaterver the fuck it was....it sounded GREAT in that room.
I told you guys Mau5 would deliver! I'll definitely catch him when he plays here in the summer (he'll be here some time in the summer right?!?! haha).

Awesome time!!
left at 2 but the mau5 was rocking out big time!! played a lot of good tunes with awesome live7 skills. The place looked so much better since they took out the damn gallery i think its the best thing they did for that place since the reno. and is it just me or did they extend the led wall all the way to the lil bar by the stage... or was it always like that. Thanks Shaya for the pass.. and thanks to "you know who u are" for the huge stack of passes .. i appreciate it!
phenoooomenal night.... post more later

What a shitty night!
Ive been partying regularly for over 3 years and i think seen around 200 djs and Im almost certain that Deadmaus played the worst set ive ever heard in my entire life. Words cannot how bad it was. It tried to sleep when i came home and i honestly saw a nightmare, i was in a club where deadmaus was spinning and all the doors were locked and i couldnt get out
. Deadmaus i know u might read this plz dont take it personally even though my words may seem harsh, but at least im telling the truth, thats what i really thought. -0.00001/10
Zaeballo was mediocre. Hes got very good djing skills ( i thought he was mixing stuff up really clean and professionaly) but his set was meh. Long cheesy breakdowns, cheesy melodies sometimes, trancy feel, breaks, although many tracks were sick (hard and techy). However, after deadmaus it seemed like infinite improvment 5.94/10
Last night me my gf and my friend were thinking between goting to fw for burrige and this party and although obviously burridge would be a wiser choice musicwise, i dont really like footwork (plus im going there in two weeks for mark mendes) and thought it would be a better idea to go to the guv even though the music would certainly be worse, since it is so much better to party at the guv than in ghetto fw. All of us ended up superdissapointed.
I usually go out partying every week and must say that until yesterday it was a pretty good month partywise for me. Last week at the guv (family) was relatively sick (6.85/10 musicwise (pretty decent music in the mainroom and very good music in the orange room) and the week b4 I saw Alex Bau which was un-fucking real musicwise (9.75/10). His set was almost pure perfection, aside from the relatively shitty dubfire - roadkill (it is a listenable track but not in Bau's leauge) and one short weird breakdown. I mean it was pure orgasm for my ears (just for comparison, compared to liebing's recent performance at fw it made liebing seem like a rookie (although liebing's set was pretty wicked and def. deserved a good 8/10)). Again very dissapointed in last nite I give it 3/10 musicwise.
Next time will definately try to avoid such sausagefest parties. It was a good lesson for me that when you face a tradeoff good music/shitty club or shitty music/good club, no matter how good a club is it is not worth sacrificing good music for it and making your ears blead by forcing yourself to listen to the likes of above and beyond, ziggy x or dadmaus.
. Now i am really afraid to go to viva for mark oliver
even though it is my favourite club both sound and vibe wise. Really hope viva books some decent hauzman soon. Next week ill prolly save my money and will go to toi for a bit and in two weeks gonna go to fw for mark mendes (havent heard him live but judjing from his new tracks should be serious). Really hope it will be awesome cause i need some serious music fix after yesterday
Zabiela was insanely good last time at Guvy, so I am super disappointed for missing it this time, as I'm sure the performance was nothing short of stellar.

| Are you sure you were at the same party??? The place was blown to pieces!!! |
But there is a very good reason for that and it is the kind of crowd u can observe in the guv. Guv atracts very large portion of irrelevant ppl and edm noobs and they like their cheese! (no offense to anyone). Ppl like that would also get blown away by blank and jones, pvd or axwell. It actually feells kinda uncomfortable to be among ppl like that, when everyone goes bonkers and waves their hands to hardcore cheese like lets say "world hold on" by bob sinclar or some filo and peri track. Isnt it scary? If you think filo and peri are not cheesy ok (i hope u dont), to unnderstand what i mean imagine that you went to a gino club (joker?) and some dj jimmy guido was playing scooter or cascada and everyone went bonkers. Technically the place was blown to pieces and all the ginos are gonna write "amazing party, sick" in the review thread on a gino site but does that really make scooter - maria (lol) awesome music?
