Thank you Tranceaddicts, & Dj TAJ

Over the last couple of years, I have had a blast with playing for you all. Its been a real dream of mine to rock the decks at 1015, just like my favorite Djs have done countless times throughout the years I attended. You have come to my sets and I want to say thank you all for supporting me. Sometimes I meet people in the club who say they have read my post on TA, or heard about me from someone, or seen me at the club.

I remember asking past Djs at the club for many years to play alongside them, handing Demos out, Giving out mixes Every bedroom Dj has to get their start somewhere. Sometimes people wonder how I got my start at the club. Hard to believe, but you all should know that I never gave Taj a Demo. I made a promise to myself that I wouldnt let him down. After all, Ive never had anyone have faith like that in me like that before. For me, its always been, Dj to play. Not about the money or anything, but that I wanted to showcase how I felt somehow. This is what I aim to do each month. The money is just a added bonus.

I mustered enough guts to ask Taj to play for my birthday in 05. I remember being behind the decks the first time that summer, I had this constant smile on my face. This was my chance to prove to San Francisco what I was made of. 6 months later, after continually playing the club once a month, Taj gave me my residency at the club.

You cant go anywhere else in the city to brush elbows with Big Djs like Taj allows us to do. Its not the club that allows you to be in that mainroom Dj booth. Not me. We should all be so lucky to be meeting talent abroad like we are able to. I remember hoping someday I would open for Above & Beyond, Ronski Speed, Thrillseekers, amongst countless others. The last few years its been a real challenge, at the same time being real fun. There also isnt a real place in San Francisco that consistently provides Trance, House and a variety on Saturdays. One reason I still continue to come to 1015.

I wouldnt have made it or been able to play if it werent for Taj having confidence in me, allowing me my shot. Taj really helped discover me, and uncover my talents. Providing coaching, and mentoring through my journey as a Dj. Allowing me to not only observe, but watch other Djs in the booth. I can honestly say I'm working with someone who really knows EDM.

After being a club patron for many years, I used to come to 1015 on Nikita and Release nights, back when Spundae was in the house. Ive seen 1015 Folsom go up and down over the years. But through it all, Taj has been there making things happen. I think we all should say thank you to the man who gives us talent, and a chance to prove ourselves as Djs.

I dont know many people out there that has a passion for Electronic Dance music like Taj. Quite honestly, I never thought that I would see Saturday nights blossom as they have over the last couple of years. Local Love events showcasing Local Talent from the bay area and abroad, giving us all who aspire to be Djs the chance to be behind the decks. There really isnt a club in San Francisco who does monthly events to showcase local talent. Even at the lovefest day parade event last year, our float also had a huge crowd. Showcasing local talent from SF once again, along side Infected Mushroom and Gareth Emery. I also was allowed to play on the float closing it. The greatest was seeing Taj out in front of the float as I played to close it out, pounding his fists in the air as I did for many years for him at the club and abroad.

Ive never seen anyone who gives respect to Djs like he does. Last Saturday was a prime example of that respect by letting Menno De Jong close out the night. He often allows more time for headliners, which is very humble for someone to do. Most Djs I know would be an ass about their timeslot. But there is a certain quality that Taj has that many of us dont have. Patience.

Looking back on everything, theres really nothing that I can say to express my thank you, but that I'm still learning from the best in San Francisco. No kissass comments here, just a simple thank you for being the Dj you are. You continue to be someone I continually look up to in the industry, and a really good friend.

Thank you Taj.

Some of you may have negative things to say, so be it. Simple truth is if you work hard for something, youre going to be rewarded for it one way or another. Saturday nights at 1015 even when there are other events going on in the city or abroad, always turn out to be great.

Taj is best down to earth person, DJ and promoter ever! Always gives you a straight answer, great advice, dog tips, looks serious but thats cause hes busy most of the time. He has a wacky side esp at the End Up! Very professional and positive about other gigs happening and never saying or replying negativaly on TA. Can't name that many promoters who ask you how was X gig the night before then replying that "I'll look into booking them". Still remember the first time he asked me how was Sasha the night before when Sean Tyas was at 1015 and me saying it was good with an almost blank face. How did Taj know I went to Sasha Not only does he gave noname DJs like DaveT and bucke, a shot in the main room, he also listens and reads our recommendations on DJs to bring out. Not just trance DJs either and as much as he works very hard to bringing out fill in the blank DJ, some things are out of his control. I can only imagine the gigs happening if he had full support from the club and werent any existing contracts on certain DJs but hopefully things get better.

I would only venture out to the city like a sheep for headliners but slowly started going to all local gigs not just at 1015 but other venues that Taj was at. Eventually I just started going just about every Saturday for the past year plus due to Taj being so welcoming to not just me but other TAs and regulars, not many promoters do that! Decided to get a digital SLR camera to take better pics at the club with the support from Taj so not many of my pics would exist today w/o Taj. His sets in Fresno, San Jose and other SF venues have always been fun, dont recall a boring a set (I may pass out but thats only cause I'm really drunk and/or tired). Look forward to more sets by Taj

Why is the Entourtaj all ladies? Darn sexists

Hell I am going to jump in the water here to. Great post Blurr and Gilbert...I am the newbie on the TA forums, but no newbie
to 1015 as I have been attending sporatically since Carl Cox was spinning on 3 turntables parked on concrete cender blocks...don't know what I am talking about...check Iris' pics of the Nikita flyer
we were right in front. My only regrets from back in those days is that I didn't pay attention to the names on the flyers...but I am sure we caught Taj on more than one occassion.

Fastforward to last year...it was Taj who gave me my shot...everyone before him never took me seriously only because I reside in Fresno (where's that :P ), and there was only one spot (sadly closed its doors this past friday) Club Glo that allowed DJ's to spin Trance. I was surprised to even get a reply back from him, but after our conversation, which was all business , I was on cloud 9. I may not know him on a personal level like most of you, but what I know is that he gave me the means to prove myself and enjoy in the moment and vibe that is 1015. No one that I have met up to this point (promoter or dj) has EVER been so welcoming in their house. A million times THANK YOU!!!!!!

Outside of getting to come out, he has time and time again pushed me and Iris to dance with his selection of tunes. Even though we are exhausted and have nothing left to kick out...like a pied piper he makes us dance. I don't get to come out and see Taj as often as each of you do, but the times that I have keep me talking and
waiting for the next time that I can see him draw power from the sky above only to drop it hard through the speakers. I could go on...but hell, I am at work, and I am sure some of you suffer from A.D.D. and will tone out...but if there is one time that left me talking and saying WOW...it was this past Presidents Day at EU.

Nothing but a post throwing out some PROPS & RESPECT to Taj for all that he does.

i totally respect that. one of the big things for me is that i might not give much more than a quick head-nod hello to taj during the course of a night, but that's just me staying out of his way especially knowing that he is probably being bombarded by dozens of other people and whatever business there is to be attended to.

i think i'm coming up on just about a year of regular "socializing" at 1015 and being active on TA rather than just occasionally checking up on the event announcements. before that, i was also a headliner-only stranger lost somewhere in the crowd. now i give taj total credit for helping to foster the community that is 1015 on saturdays...

and it's actually amazing how many other events/parties/outings i've skipped on in the past year to make it to 1015... yes, even on local nights... heh, some of my friends have just given up even calling me on a saturday eve to see what's up

Please do.

I've asked and now I just need to wait for a response.

I remember the 1st time I saw TAJ play which was about 8 yrs ago... I thought to myself, "WOW! How neat that a biker dude is DJing/playing the kind of music I like! I thought most biker dudes were all about ROCK music!"

Can't imagine Taj as a biker dude. But yeah, I think I remember thinking something like, "That crazy lookin rocker dude is a DJ?" Oh no, I'm doing it again. I feel a novel comin on. I do enjoy coming home from work and touching base with everyone on TA. Wait, I mean I enjoy coming home from work, taking a hit, reading and writing novels on TA.

I'm feeling so drained right now though. I think the weekend finally hit me. Plus, stayed up too late last night watching America's Best Dance Crew. Anyways, lost my train of thought.

Doesn't matter, I had to go clean the kitchen anyways. Beautiful day outside was pulling some weeds before I cleaned the kitchen. Love my garden.

Oh yeah, wanted to say, "Thank you TA and thank you Taj."

Seriously, "Thank You." You've been very generous to me and all of us here on TA. You're the SFTA GodFather Baby! SFTA, what a group of people - love em!

Godfather.....Why I gotta go to another venue to hear your house set?

Hope everyone is having a great week so far. I was draggin ass at work today; let me tell you. So, any takers on Mutaytor Friday?

Taj rocks!!!

When I first met Taj, he was kind enough to hold records for me that he recommended when I used to shop at Spundae records back in like 2001-2002. Me and Nancy used to go every week like religion to get the latest on tuesdays when thier shipments came in. I think Taj had a beard back then too!! Also thats when I met Scott Carelli and J. Ojeda.

I'd always go check out Taj open for big djs then and he was always ripping it and hasn't stopped since. The early Spundae days with Taj, Gianni and jonathan Ojeda, Scott Carelli, Alex Whalen were the best times and I'm glad to see Taj is still holding strong as SF's original pioneers and he's still tearing dance floors everywhere!!

I used to play 1015 for many years in the basement because it was almost impossible to get booked in the main room in the early days and I was lucky enough to play one time thanks to Scott Carelli who asked me if i could play in his place after Markus Shulze.

But today, I've been soo grateful to Taj because he's believed in me and has given me countless opportunities for me the to play with headliners in the best club in SF (1015) for over a year now and I could'nt have ever had that opportunity with anyone else running 1015 on saturdays. Taj has opened doors for alot of people and has been a great inspiration to me seeing him play with the best dj's in the world. I hold Taj in great respect as well as his friendship for helping me out even in my personal life.

Taj has created a new buzz on Saturdays and it feels like the good- old days except it's even better now. There's a new following of EDM folks and It wouldnt have gotten to this point without Taj's vision of giving us a new place to call home.

Thank you Taj for you believing in us djs, your friendship and your passion for the scene.

Every year keeps getting better and better!!

No one can rock 1015 like this.

I think you are the biggest influence in me moving to the city, which is an incredible life change for me. Can't say that about anyone else. Your passion and dedication to the music and the scene is unparallel to anyone.

Thanks for being a friend and always putting others before yourself.

And thanks for the crazy insane sets I go nuts to every Saturday night and Sunday mornings!
