NHL Trade Deadline

Christobal Huet To Washington for a 2nd round pick.

This is a salary dump...They are gona get 2 big players today for sure!

HYPE

Villalobos in net!

Hopefully Hossa and Jokinen.

i don't know about that move....i don't know if it's smart to let a young goalie like price be the #1 goalie heading into the playoffs...

Posted by elFreak on Feb-26-2008 17:13:

he has won at every level he has ever played at (price..Hamilton last year too) Huet is gone for nothing at the end of the year. Now they have room for more than just Hossa. Huet is not a number one goalie either. To win you have to pick one Goalie and make him play. The future is now, its the 100th anniversary of the habs next year. Go big or go home. Halak has been killing it in Hamilton.

No one thought Patrick Roy would win the cup in 86.

ok...we'll see what happens....hossa's not 100% yet is he??? who else you think they'll acquire?

Posted by elFreak on Feb-26-2008 17:19:

its not confirmed...but everyone on every channel thinks Hossa is going to Montreal and they have been right on all the other trades so far. My guess is maybe Jokinen. They can afford him, he is a Fin like Saku and has 2 years left on his contract. We have so much youth that we can actually get these players with non roster players and still not trade away the future like they do in Toronto. They could also get defence or a power forward. All i know is that this is the most exciting deadline for us in a long time.

Higgins and Ryder are the only roster players i see moving .

i agree...very exciting...i'm going to the game tonight!

Posted by Passskal on Feb-26-2008 17:27:

crazy!!!

I think they just want to give Price some playoff experience this year and are actually not necessarilly aiming for the cup. Next year they will be, 100th anniversary, Kovalev's last year, etc!!

Still tho more trades to come for sure!

/me waiting for a Hossa trade announcement

Montreal had to do it and Huet was expendable. Price has the demeanor to play well in the playoffs, he's not your typical 20 year old netminder, that's for sure.

The Hossa sweepstakes should be interesting as Ottawa's trying to get him to improve its team and to keep him away from Montreal

I see my Canucks lost out on getting Brad Richards, Sundin and Forsberg.. and Belak too, smirk.

Kovalev will finish his career in Montreal

if they get Hossa does he play against his old team tonight? I can't see that happening.

Who the fuck was Cam Ward

Posted by Passskal on Feb-26-2008 17:35:

lolcamward insn't that the young cinderella goalie who won Carolina the cup after their number one goalie got injured?

I love the TSN.ca live feed.

Posted by elFreak on Feb-26-2008 17:38:

ya

i dont think Carey Price is ready today...but let him play 10 games in a row and all of a sudden that changes everything. If he gets in the groove he can do anything.

For those who have shitty internet at work and no TV..

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/trade_deadline/feature/?fid=11364

I would like to see Hossa traded to the house room for Offer Nissim

Posted by Sean Walsh on Feb-26-2008 17:43:

Yeah I'm not getting all that much done at work right now =P

Posted by elFreak on Feb-26-2008 17:49:

Chicago is dumping everything. Robert Lang in Montreal for nothing. Watch.

Posted by Spin Laden on Feb-26-2008 17:51:

Gad, if the NHL ever expands to Europe, Montreal, Detroit and New York will be in the Euro division by default.. so many European players on their teams but it seems to work.

Posted by Passskal on Feb-26-2008 18:01:

Martin LApointe lol...what an expensive and overated player. Good luck with that Ottawa!

Posted by elFreak on Feb-26-2008 18:05:

Lapointe tells us that Ottawa didnt get Hossa...no cap room.

ps spin, the team in the nhl with the least europeans won the cup last year.

Posted by princesultan on Feb-26-2008 18:14:

rotoworld:

"There is a rumor that the Ottawa Senators are talking with the Thrashers. The trade would be Marian Hossa and Kari Lehtonen for Christoph Schubert, Nick Foligno, Antoine Vermette and Chris Kelly."

DON'T SCREW THIS ONE UP HABS!!!!

Posted by Sean Walsh on Feb-26-2008 18:15:

Nothing new there, both the sens and habs have had offers on the table for a while, guess it just depends where Atlanta and Hossa wanna go at this point.

Posted by elFreak on Feb-26-2008 18:16:

lol @ Colorado basically trying to get the old team back.

I think they'll get it again this year, esp if Detroit stays banged up. They have so much depth, they could go without Europeans and even hockey sticks
