what has tiesto done to make you hate him?

i dont get it..

he has stayed true to Dance music.

his radio show is 10 times better then the mctrance armin plays

some people say he is somewhat of a gateway drug...but a gateway drug to what? everyone in his genre plays the same stuff as him lol sometimes worse or months later then him..

Armin > Tiesto.. Sorry McNOOB

Posted by sean5 on Feb-27-2008 02:58:

the bigger you get, the more haters you get. that's why they say it is tough at the top becuase everyone wants to knock you down. he's been very successful though as his haters may be vocal but are clearly the minority.

go see him play in the states. his sets are so watered down its fucking ridiculous. tiesto used to be amazing. first time i saw him was impulz 2002 in holland. download the set, its fucking amazing, esp the last 30 minutes. i got spoiled by seeing him for the first time in his prime and in his homeland. whenever ive seen him here (miami) it was total bullshit. not to mention the fucking cash you have to dish out just to see him here. its not worth it. he doesnt even care when he plays here. no crowd interaction, doesnt build up his sets, nothing. just grabs the same 5 records that made him who he is, traffic, lethal industry, love comes again, just be, etc etc etc etc etc and presses play. he doesnt try anymore. i mean i cant really blame him, but its just annoying. i will only ever go see him again if i see him at some massive event in europe. everywhere else he sucks.

i do agree though, his radio show is awesome (most of the time). out of the major djs weekly shows, his is the best. but when he plays live he doesnt play that way. theres really only a handful (5 or less) of events all year long where you can get a good tiesto set. isos6 release party at hmh last year, and trance energy 2008 being two obvious recent ones. look at every other tracklists. they are all bullshit.

tijs didnt stay true, so for that reason, i have no problem talking shit about him. then again, if i was in the same position, i wouldnt mind if half the internet was talking shit about me, cuz id be laughing all the way to the bank.

but just so its clear, i actually do still like tiesto. i just dont listen to a lot of the new stuff, mostly just rock out to the older sets. he has more classic fucking sets than any other dj. hands down.

I don't hate Tiesto, but I do hate people that open threads about him.

Posted by RapidFire on Feb-27-2008 03:40:

to be honest ive never really liked him other than a few productions here and there. i always thought his sets were weak

Posted by jupiterone on Feb-27-2008 03:54:

I don't really hate him. Hell, I've found a lot of great tracks from his sets. True the bigger you get the more people will vocally dislike you. It obviously happens in sports too.

But at the same time, if you're going to be one of the biggest in the world, you should realize that people will expect more from you...and you have to keep rising to the occasion.

Posted by hkaliher on Feb-27-2008 04:29:

he wouldn't let me touch his no zone and that my friend is unforgivable

Posted by Yohan on Feb-27-2008 04:56:

Let's not forget the utter wank sets from 2002-2006.

Terrible flow, track selection, not to mention trainwrecks.

Though he seems to have slightly refined himself since 2006.

Posted by InfiniteSquare on Feb-27-2008 04:57:

his radio show is damn fine

a wide variety of genres..

"If U2 made dance music, it might well sound like [my new single] In The Dark."

"I even found a name for this style of music: rocktronic."

From my experience I completely agree. Big disappointment. When I saw him play in Chicago, if I remember correctly, he went from the intro track, Ten Seconds Before Sunrise (awesome track, especially for the intro), right into "Andy Duguid Feat. Leah - Don't Belong". Can you get any more fuckin un-epic than that?

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Feb-27-2008 05:52:

Resent is probably a better word. It's very frustrating to appreciate a style of music, and then have one dude misrepresent it to everyone else, to the point where everyone else considers him to be the defining pioneer of the style. It's also hard to take him seriously when he takes on the mantel so willingly, and puts himself in the spot of the progenitor.

In short, we don't hate him. We just wish he would shut up and stick to making mediocre dance music.

He did the EXACT same thing in Washington!

That DVD was a huge disappointment in my opinion... a documentary focusing more on his rise would have been great, but instead we get the result of a cameraman following tijs around for a few months.

good point, to be honest i just never liked the guy. i was never into trance. only oakie back in the day, but that didn't last that long. i've always been into the darker side of dance music.all his cd's magik and in search of sunrise, wtf kind of cd names is that?to me that is just straight gay shit.
