Tiesto @ Piknic..roflmao.
Just go see Nick Pilon, at least he can mix and won't cost you an arm and a leg. I'm sure he would pose if you asked him nicely.
I want him to play a set "a la Energy 2000"
Build a time machine then, because that style has been dead for years.
i wouldnt mine seeing him
why all the hate??
i m a trance noob mayb thats why i like him

| Originally posted by MichaelBoogerd! I'm becoming less motivated to care about what Tiesto is up to as well. Why? Quite simply the DJ i was supporting c.2001-2 playing 6hr solo sets in clubs with a broad range of prog- tech- uplifting- trance has become obsessed with marketing and big room stadium gigs. Thats partly the demand that lets him get away with it. But he could also wake up tomorrow and decide to go back to doing intimate venues again. As PatmcGroin wrote on first page. 5 times a year he really kicks ass. The rest of the time is on auto-pilot playing tracklists that half resemble a hit parade, the other half a slap dash run through of recent "trancers" and a few "alternative tracks". Club Life at face value is the same as the rest, but at least it has a second hour of interesting club music... the fact they choose to only podcast hour 1 (the uplifting vocal trance pap) proves the direction the Tiesto bandwagon is going in... and its one i'd rather jump off than head into some third-world-tour. Trance Energy may have been an excellent showcase... but how can he translate that style to an 8 hour concert event? The truth is the big shows never work, they're just money spinners and hype mongers. If he would choose to balance his touring between festivals (playing trance energy/museumplein type sets) and some intimate venues (playing his wider style) then i would love it. The issue is the rather large middle ground. Where for every 1 or 2 festival sets a year, and the 2-3 private afterparties, there are 125 tour events where Traffic and Adagio are belted out for the 200th time. Or the party has to fall under some kind of "brand".. EOL or ISOS, is there even a difference. Gone are the days where he's just turning up and playing music. Its all "set patterns" and "pyrotechnically correct" setlists... blabla. Its not like he is not aware of it either. Did he dare play Adagio in holland last week?? No. So why do it everywhere else in the world then?? Grr its frustrating. And so many "older" fans who were there in the really good period 2001-2 have left him because of it. |

No use crying , you are going to have to get used to it. 3. Read this. This guy has travelled all across the world to see him over 70 times, has a fan site and has widely been recognized as the biggest Tiesto fan on earth. Why does he say these things? Because he wants to hate his idol? 4.lolpwned trance cracker. |

Quick ZraW, while ANF isn't looking, make a few baseless comparissons between Armin and Magda.

Well Armin is better because he draws more people, makes sense if you live in RDP.
I can't believe Michael Boogerd finally came to his senses.. probably off the payroll or something
im so tired of people killing threads just cuz they dont like the dj
it's so 2002-2003
seriously guys
LEARN TO RESPECT OTHER PEOPLES OPINIONS
listen to this man, after all he died in a huge natural disaster in the Day After Tomorrow.
It's all fairly depressing IMO. I used to be a big fan of the Tiesto, Armin, etc back in early 2000s, but for pretty much all of the reason in Boogerd's post, I now couldn't care less. There's just no freshness or innovation in their sets these days, just the same stale sound, 30 second mixes, and absolutely no boundary pushing.
IMO of course! There's still some good trance out there, it just doesn't seem to be played by the big jocks anymore (SvD notwithstanding, but his style is nothing remotely similar to Tiesto/Armin)

no seriously, he's successful in terms of his Dutch bank account growing and his shoeline launch for sure but in any other sense of the term, he fails. he is a sheer sell-out.

| Originally posted by Ishkur Here's a sensible answer: Tiesto is not a very good DJ. No, don't dispute this. His skills are pedestrian, his ideas are uninteresting, and his track selection is not very well-rounded. He is a simple, one-dimensional, ABC DJ who just plays songs back-to-back. On the DJ pantheon, he is about one notch above the mobile DJ at the last wedding you attended. If you think he is a good DJ, then you know very little about DJing, and even less about music. The reason why people hate Tiesto is because, as a bad DJ, he is very good at marketing the illusion that he is a good DJ to ignorant people who don't know any better, like you. And that makes the rest of us sad. Because you're actually stupid enough to fall for his bullshit. We want you to stop being stupid, and start liking good music. The end. |
