if you can start again would you?

i know me and many alike..had to search awhile to figure out all the electronic artist and such..and there not all out there on the radio so we gotta do a bit of diggin..

anyways it took me awhile to find the style i was lookin for..this is before i went to raves and stuff..but the first time i heard those sounds..they were like entering into a new dimension it was so fresh...but its now begginin to get a bit stale and i wish that my ears will go back to the old days..so im wondering if say you forgot about electron music and your entire harddrive was cleaned out..

would you start again?

probably not because i wouldn't be inspired/influenced by the artists that first influenced me to begin with. they're in a whole different world of music now than they were before. so if i were to forget all about my current musical tastes and aspirations i would most definitely be drawn towards different music.

If it's starting to get stale, listen to nothing but acoustic music for a few weeks. Then come back to electronic stuff.

Helps you appreciate all the cool synthetic sounds more, I've found.

Starting all over i think is not really an option for most people, simply because the initial inspiration began through the days of the early 2k and late 90s, and now that sound it gone and has made way to something different and distant from the it's roots. Inspiration through todays trance music would prove to be a lot lower simply because work required to make a "decent" track now is in most cases daunting to most people; though through the late 90s people heard sounds they could recreate and melodies they found catchy and that drove them to produce and become for the most part the guys that we hear today. That is just my opinion, that the simplicity of the music back in the day was the main selling point for many.

Ugh. Trance's roots are not in the "late '90s."

In fact, the late '90s were when mainstream trance started really diverging from its roots. Early trance music in the late '80s and early '90s was weird, repetitive, filled with acid and other spacey noises. Designed to be continuous, hypnotic music that you could get lost in. It was not constructed around a 2+ minute breakdown that would make everyone stop dancing, raise their arms and gaze in awe and devotion at the DJ who had dropped the "anthem."

It's happened. HD died, I was really bummed for a few months. God knows how much money was put into that thing.

Started right back up and I'd say my collection is better than ever. Quality over quantity.

If your music is getting stale, explore more.

probably/.... i mean once you hear a hot beat, it gets stuck in your head and you want to explore it.

Fair enough, but i was referring to the trance that i know and the trance that i started listening to. I just assumed it was at this point that the genre really became mainstream and most people began their love for it. Sorry if i didn't make it clear.

Probably not. I don't really hang out in the EDM scene locally. This is my primary connection to it here at TA. I'd probably get into random indie acts and just generally amazing music.

I started by typing techno into kazaa and was lucky to get 'tisto - forbidden paradise' which is really an old Ferry tune (no one ever talks about his Bypass alias).
So yes, I guess I would like to rediscover trance. Only if it wasnt for p2p I wouldnt of known it to exist
