Armin FAILS in ASOT 341

[START RANT]

Hi All,

Now i never normaly have anything bad to say about armin because i regard him as one of the best in the buisness and is normaly a major inspiration to the way i mix and my tune selection....

But this week in ASOT its almost like he got the work expeirence kid to put it all together! There are at least four horrible mixes which are out of key and out of time, that cause my ears to bleed. Plus the show doesn't flow as per normal and the tune of the week is really bad!

Normaly he is seemless and the mixes are works of art, maybe he is human after all and just having a bad week. But i reckon he got some hack to fill in cause this isn't armin mixing....

The transitions that are bold below are what i am talking about...

01. Pryda - Pjanoo [Pryda]
02. The Brothers Funk - Sunrise [Somatic Sense]
03. Phynn - Starfire At Night (Andy Duguid Remix) [Black Hole]
04. Deadmau5 - Alone With You (Mau5trap)
05. Orjan Nilsen - La Guitarra [Armada]
06. The Doppler Effect - Beauty Hides In The Deep (The Blizzard Remix) [Armind] [Future Favorite]
07. Wendy Melvoin & Lisa Coleman - The Heroes Theme (Filo & Peri Bootleg) [Tune Of The Week]
08. Utah Saints - Lost Vagueness (M6 Bootleg Mix)
09. Steve Anderson - Neve [DJSA]

10. Georgia - Ode To '99 [Levare]
11. Seth Hutton feat Judie Tzuke - Don't Look Behind You (Mike Shiver's Catching Sun Remix) [Captured]
12. Greg Downey - Stadium [Vandit Digital]
13. Andre Visior & Kay Stone - Something For Your Mind (Giuseppe Ottaviani Remix) [Breathemusic]
14. Matt Cerf feat. Jaren - Let Me Breathe (Bissen Remix)
15. Tom Colontonio - Omega Thursday [Vandit Digital]
16. Hensha - The Curtain (Underwater's Blue Remix) [Conspiracy]
17. Ilya Soloviev - Sunwaves (Paul Miller Remix) [Timeline Musi]
18. Mike Foyle - Pandora [Armind]
19. Ernesto vs. Bastian - Super Jupiter [High Contrast]
20. Rank 1 feat. Shanokee - Such Is Life [ASOT Radio Classic]

[/END RANT]

oh noes one bad mix out of 341
what will we ever do

Posted by EgosXII on Feb-29-2008 01:33:

pretty weird if there's bad mixing: maybe he didn't use ableton this week...??

after 15 odd years of mixing tho, he could probly mix in his sleep: and he's a leader in harmonic mixing, so strange tunes are out of key too...
havn't listened to it, so i dunno: maybe he got tiesto to do this week's show...

Posted by christos on Feb-29-2008 01:41:

nah I overheard someone saying pkc did that mix????????????????? oh noes!

people still listen to ASOT?

Posted by James Brooke on Feb-29-2008 04:34:

yes dean normaly on fridays i am very uplifted thanks to asot, but not this week

jolz, not one but four bad mixes - this from a dude that hasn't fucked up a mix on asot or live in years....

jords, as you said he is the leader in harmonic mixing and these tunes a tone deaf n00b could tell are out of key.... its not slightly out but waaaay out... ROFL @ teisto comment...

jed, im listening to it from where i left off before my lunch meeting (with a really hot chick, so im now very drunk) and it seems to have picked up after track 11!

the tunes are good so far, but yeah im just having a bitch cause those bad mixes are so far out of the norm! it would be like walking into famous this weekend and seeing jules behind the decks!!

Posted by Light The Fuse on Feb-29-2008 13:22:

armin always fails.

ill never forget it...the year was 2003...the event was godskitchen...

judge jules followed by armin followed by j00f.
the word was out there is a madt new trance dj on the dex and his name is armin.

i was hyped.

so me and a few mates went down to see this new unheard of trance god...armed with nothing less than three quarter pants, the hope of raver sex and a fist full of m-caps.

i was well into techno at the time....and techno people all bagged judge jules for being shite...so thats what i expected...but no...judge jules was actually quite listenable and built the night up well for the slot he was PLaying... i was impressed and ready for this new maddog to rip my ballz outta my sax.

and then he jumped on.....and welll...he was amazing....

amazing the way he made me wanna vomit up my well paid drugs....amazing the way he would play one good tune in 5 and make that 1 good tune sound like shit.....amazing the way he sucked 10,000 people into a stupor of saccharine madness.

trully amazing.

james, u just realised what i and about 20 people around u have been telling u.

armin is shit

....but then back in 2003...joof jumped on...and half the khuntz left...and it was the best music ever.

see all u bitches at tiesto

i'll say it again, armin is shit.

Posted by RaverSpike on Mar-01-2008 20:50:

just listen to asot last night while i was @ work, the worest asot episode i've ever heard

Posted by DJ Patski on Mar-02-2008 03:21:

When I saw him in Melbourne it was 6 hours of flawless mixing.

His ASOT shows are made in Ableton and doing it two hours every week ontop of all his gigs, every once and awhile you'll slip up with a few transitions and shit.

Big whoop.

The prog room that night was fucking incredible - it was changed to the alexander room at the last minute and it ended up being a great move. It was a very intimate room, and Satoshi & Fortier had people climbing the walls. It was Chris' first trip to Melbourne & Satoshi was the man-about-prog at the time.

I have some great memories from JOOF that morning also - i remember watching him try to mix in Universal Nation about 3 times, but the stylus kept slipping when he finally got it though Vodafone erupted lol.
