#75 Threatening to Move to Canada

Often times, white people get frustrated with the state of their country. They do not like the President, or Congress, or the health care system, or the illegal status of Marijuana. Whenever they are presented with a situation that seems unreasonable to them, their first instinct is to threaten to move to Canada.

For example, if you are watching TV with white people and there is a piece on the news about that they do not agree with, they are likely to declare �ok, that�s it, I�m moving to Canada.�

Though they will never actually move to Canada, the act of declaring that they are willing to undertake the journey is very symbolic in white culture. It shows that their dedication to their lifestyle and beliefs are so strong, that they would consider packing up their entire lives and moving to a country that is only slightly similar to the one they live in now.

Within white culture, it is agreed upon that if Canada had better weather it would be a perfect place.

Being aware that this information can be used quite easily to gain the trust of white people. Whenever they say, �I�m moving to Canada,� you must immediately respond with �I have relatives in Canada.�

They will then expect you to tell them about how Canada has a perfect healthcare system, legalized everything, and no crime. Though not true, it will reassure them that they are making the right choice by saying they want to move there.

But be warned, they will reference you in future conversations and possibly call on you to settle disputes about Canadian tax rates. So use this advice only if you plan to do some basic research.

Note: Canadian white people threaten to move to Europe.

Note: Europeans are unable to threaten to move anywhere.

This blog should be re-titled "Stuff pretentious white upper-middle class urban/suburban American's like."

There was a huge poll done on CBC and it showed that in 2007 a huge majority of Canadians "liked" Americans, just not their politics.

Pretty dumb to hate Americans, they are mostly like us but more religious and elect idiots.

Yes that is the point. No one really hates individual americans, but people do hate the politics, the ultra-conservative culture, etcetera. The way you worded it just made it seem like you meant the US is especially well liked here, which simply isn't the case (though it might have been back in the clinton days, and may very well be again in the obama days). Anti-US sentiment is currently as strong here as anywhere, maybe even stronger.

It's unfortunate that one regime and an aging conservative populace ruins it for the rest of us.

I really love this site. Having grown up in a very wealthy suburban mostly white neighborhood, I recognize practically everything they talk about, and find it completely hilarious.

Hardly! Upper-Middle class is usually more moderate to conservative. While the blog does cover some liberal ideals (being green, social responsibility) it also portrays them(us) in a stereotypical, corporate brand-whoring, and globally ignorant light.

Plus some of these dont make sense, since they are things that have universal appeal. (You're telling me smoking pot and drinking coffee is only/predominantly liked by whites?)

The fact that I'm white, and over half of these don't apply to me makes me feel like I'm either a bad white person or this is a bad blog.

I find this amusing.

He's really off on the whole "rich + white = Democrat" thing, though. The Republicans are the ones who get most of the rich white people. He seems to be talking about a specific subset of rich white people, something like "bobos."

But a lot of the entries are still funny.
