Whatever You Want From Me - feat. Pasha Gypsy [192kbps]

Here's my latest track that I'm putting the finishing touches on. It's a collaboration with my friend Pasha Gypsy. It still needs some mixing (esp. EQ) work and I'm not 100% sure about some of the vocal effects. The initial idea was started in Project5 and finished in Sonar 7PE.

Whatever You Want From Me (first song in mp3 player - will start automatically) [192 kbps]

I'm out of ideas on this one, so let me know if you have any suggestions. Also, I'm curious to know what genre/subgenre you'd call this - it started out as a sorta deep house track, but evolved into whatever it is (120 bpm).

Synths used: Virus Polar TI, DimPro, Nexus, Battery 3, and Stylus RMX.

I think it is a pretty good production, but my listening environment is not the most ideal yet. There was a part in the beginning where her voice sounded a little out of tune. But, after that, it was pretty spot on. The mix in of the voice sounds a bit too upfront. Have you tried putting a high pass filter on the vocals? I felt it took up too much of the overall spectrum - it seemed to be in the same range as some of your synths.

I'm not sure what genre this would be. It sounds like it would be in some sub-genre of pop. This is not a bad thing. Overall, this has some great potential. But, I'm not sure what kind of feedback you will get here in the Trance forums.

You have become much better. I can definitely see the improvement over the past year. Maybe one day I'll catch up with ya

Thanks for the comments, DA. Yes, getting the vocals to sit right in this mix have definitely been a royal PITA. There are 18 tracks of vocals (not counting the vocoder) and with all those harmonies, they consume most of the frequency spectrum.

I'm thinking the song needs a drum/bass breakdown - the non-stop vocals become tiring to my ears pretty quickly.

By no means the usual type of track you get on these forums.

Overall, not really my thing as the style of the vocals jsut aren't my cup of tea.

Production seems decent. Percussion works well but could it be a bit brighter?

The vocal does seem to dominate the track a little bit. I've never used vocals though so wouldn't know where to begin to mix them in better.

No other complaints production wise. Some nice sounds...
