russian elections

I don't trust the validity of an election when someone has ~70% of the vote. I have nothing against Medvedev but honestly why bother...at least his sketch factor is significantly lower than Putin's.

We all know who will still be running the country though once Medvedev elects Putin as Prime Minister.

Putin is obviously one very smart man.

He knows he's the hero of many Russians, the saviour of thier economy, etc...by placing a young, attractive, dynamic protege of his as his successor he guarantees his continued influence. I would prefer (not that it affects me at all) to see him appointed to a Regency as opposed to the Prime Minister's office, but either way he will still be guiding policy.

Check fucking mate.

Nice.

Many of the richer ones definitely don't. The poorer usually don't know much about any other choice, as they are manipulated by the state-owned media.

I have the inclination to believe the election has a good chance that it was rigged. not because the general populace doesn't wat change, but because the ruling elite doesn't want more freedom and oversight granted to the public. the amount of corruption can be compared to the communist times. also with the government forcing state ownership of the media, the oil companies, steel companies, among other major industries, there can't be a large amount of economic freedom.

rigged how so?
cause i mean of course medvedev got like 100% of the publicity through the major media, and regardless of how much he sucks it'd be pretty hard to run a campaign against him when your voice can't be heard

yep, they don't even have to rig the elections

imo hard to get people interested in a democracy when they are told what to do so often. when you turn on the tv every damn day and see the same person over and over again and how great he is it is hard to want to elect someone you know nothing about. either way uneventful election but hopefully for russia he/Putin helps the country out with progression into the future.
