http://www.zshare.net/audio/8421519053800b/

Been working on this for the last couple weeks with my friends over here...

Got great reactions @ Stereo nightclub on friday night before Lee Burridge

Made in Cubase SX

Looking forward to grabbing this once I am back home, have a feeling it will be something I will enjoy

Thoughts to come...

i like the composition, but the samples used sound flat and tired to me. Just my opinion, but if you chose less generic sounds for the same piece it would have much more potential. (just find that bass synth to be very 1985)

Posted by Allied Nations on Mar-03-2008 18:54:

hmm i thought youd be more keen on the bass than the percussions to be honest

thanks for listening you villalobos choking loser

It's alright I suppose. Very ten a penny type of tune, there are loads of tracks that sound the same. But great production nonetheless would sound great In a club.

hoes before bros

i didnt hate it greg, its just missing some depth imo.

we took the bass hook from the original and made a monster around it

was the plan, i think we achieved what we wanted to with the jam

Does this sound similar to a lot of other tunes out there right now?

Yes, it does.

Does it sound better than a fair number of them?

Yes, it does.

Here's my take on it - EDM is, in general, about some theme becoming popular and then a lot of people trying to repeat said theme until it has been completely and utterly played out. Some do well, some fail miserably - I think you guys did alright with this one. It does have that kind of "big room" feel to it without being too banging, I do like the bassline though will agree with Jay that it has a very 1985 feel to it, fortunately that is a plus for me. The percussion is probably what I think is the most generic and boring aspect of the tune, which isn't to say it's poorly done - it just sounds similar to countless other tunes.

I'd honestly like to see some diversity in the high end percs - I really think it could change up the pacing of the tune to have some more organic or warm sounding stuff in there (if that makes any sense).

In any event, I'm going to toss it in my bag and see if I find a spot to play it here or there in the not too distant future and I'll try to pop back in and let you know what I think once I've tried to contextualize it.

i'm not a producer or anything but I really enjoyed this. Is this the final edit? and let me know if you ever sell a 320 version. cheers.

Posted by RJT on Mar-03-2008 19:45:

Haha, I didn't even realize how low bitrate this one was, or that it wasn't full - how about something a little higher, Greg?

Fucking pot will kill your attention span, let me tell you.

Sounds like stripped down Jeff Bennett. Bassline is anoying me, I like the echoey synths. I dunno man, not really diggin it to be honest. Something I might buy and then just not play in favor of other tracks...

Cool production. Not really my style. It would probably sound really good on a system.

Honestly I've heard enough of your mixes to realize it probably wouldn't be your style- Don't quite see the comparison to Jeff Bennett, but hey

I didn't even listen to the 128 sample and hearing it now it sounds like absolute ass!

I'm going to re-up a better sample-

And believe me, on one of the best systems in north america it sounded like a fucking freight train

Posted by elFreak on Mar-03-2008 22:15:

this track could use more sounds of people tooting their own horn.

Sounds like big stupid prog to me, sorry not my thing at all.

Kick is all big and silly, percussion is good I 'spose but none of this makes me want to dance or fist pump really. Sounds a bit pre-setish as well, as previously mentioned.

Greg this doesn't seem like your thing at all, doesn't seem to me like you really devoted any of your creativity to this whatsoever.

A few cool parts, and some cool "effects" you guys created to tie phrases together but apart from that I really don't think this scratches the surface of your "potential".

Sample schmample. Full version or stfu.

And I could care less how little innovation this seems to have - it's got about as much as anything else out there, and regardless of its merits as a unique or groundbreaking tune, I can still see it doing some damage in a club - and in some circumstances that's all I care about.

digging the body of the tune not to into the synthy stuff. before taking a final stance on the tracks full production i would listen to it out on other systems before finalizing this as alot of tracks sound great on stereo sound system and then when played out elswhere sound like absolute ass, not saying that this does.
But stereo is deceiving when attempting to judge the overall sound and production of tracks as it makes things sound better over all.
just my opinion from personal experience

heard it on 2 club systems now, 4 sets of monitors, headphones

+

other friends of mine have been dropping it already

i think the overall sound is the least of my worries- now we're into stylistic differences

although i do want to lower the levels on the delay sound
