Question Mac Kids: Free image editing software?

I'm thinking of something along the lines of an open source and/or free version of photoshop - lil help?

Might be along the lines of what you're looking for.

GNU Image Manipulation Program is what it stands for. But yes, Rob is also a gimp.

Have you ever used that Jake?

It came pre-packaged when I installed Linux so I don't know how well it runs on a Mac. I've used it quite a bit. The layout feels just like Photoshop, and while it accomplishes most of what Photoshop can do, it does it in its own way. Basically, if you're looking for a good alternative it will suit you just fine, but you might have some trouble figuring out how GIMP wants to do it.

Got it installed now - looks great, may take a bit to figure out, but it runs.

Thanks for the recommendation Jake - and do you have Linux installed on your iBook?

Or am I crazy for even thinking you ever had a Mac...

I run Linux on my desktop. I do have a Powerbook, so you're not crazy.

yep, gimp is pretty much your best bet as it is really the only free open source graphical 'suit' thats been in development for quite some time.
