Sigh, i'm calling xbox for the 3rd time now.

These bastards can't make a console that works.

i'm tempted to get it fixed at work but i'll void the warrenty.

So this is your 3rd RROD I presume?

Posted by BTG on Mar-05-2008 04:51:

2 RROD, 1 dead laser.

the worst part is that Army of Two comes out on thursday, and I wont be able to play it for about 3 weeks.

insist they mail you 350$ or whatever it is so that you can just choose one yourself in a store. do they send you refurb ones or something?

Ive got a buddy whos on his 3rd as well, and one of my roomies' has one with a broken disc drive. Microsoft did everything right with the 360, except the physical aspect. The thing is a piece of shit no fucking doubt.

thats just more reason to throw a chip and big HD in there!

I'll be waiting for the "slim" versions of the 360 and PS3 before picking them up. By the time they bring out the major console revisions with all the bugs worked out, the online interface for both systems will be perfected, and there will be huge bins of great used games for $10.

I recently got a slim silver PS2 + around 25 AAA quality games for $400...enough to keep me busy for a good 2 years..

It pays to stay a generation behind.

A direct-boot mod-chip that allows you to play back-ups and imported originals.

Did it require a lot of soldering? I moded my original Xbox and I think it had 7 solder points if I recall however when I looked at the chips that www.divineo.com had for the slim PS2, one of them had like 22 solder points and I was holy shit I'm not confident enough in myself to do 22 solder points.

indeed, I do that too. I also enjoy to pick up tested and approved games, and avoid all the turds. I get my games for dirt cheap as well ( 3-4 average per game)

yea I modded my slim PS2 and it took me about 3 hours cause I took my damn time, hehe. Was not fun by any means but worth it. Soldering to a surface mount chip leg is a fukcing bitch! I used a stereo microscope thats at 40x magnification to do so.

God damnit dude, that sucks some serious ass. The 360 is a kickass system, but physically speaking, its an absolute piece of shit.
