Gigi DŽAgostino - La Passion. Thoughts???

Anyone heard this???

Been looking for an ID for it for ages, and found it today. So, happy me.

Finally have it and I think it rocks. Vocals fit in very well. One of the few trancers with good vocals.

Anyone else like it????

Posted by SoulSupply on May-09-2002 19:30:

Oh Dear God... dont mean to be a flamer, ive never flamed anyone here (yet ) but that is a bit much. La passion has got to be one of the most annoying, overplayed songs of last year, even if ud said lamour toujours id have given u a thumbs up, its wot i call "edam" (ie. quality cheese!)

Posted by Trancewave on May-09-2002 19:37:

Good Lord, did you just call L'amour Toujours quality? Why don't you just advise him to listen to Dj Alligator - The Whistle Song while you're at it.

As far as La Passion and Gigi goes, he's right up there with DJ Jean. I want to puke every time.

Posted by THE_Chris on May-09-2002 19:39:

Yeah... I'll probobly hate it within a week. I didnt hear it at all last year and I think its the novelty of finding it thats made me make the rash decision of actually liking it....

BTW - You in Cork, Ireland??? I live in Cobh.

Posted by SoulSupply on May-09-2002 19:50:

cool, im in midleton! east cork TAs unite! and as for lamour toujours, its quality CHEESE! its a bit of fun, and doesnt resort to sad sexual innuendo like blow my whistle. u remember fun dont u trancewave? its wot clubbing was about before progressive "intelligent" music! dont get me wrong, i do enjoy a bit of good prog house or trance, but people seem to think these days that its the in music and u cant like a bit of cheese coz its just so uncool!

Will you agree with me in saying that there isnt a single decent club in Cork and that every single one of them plays utter shite????

We need an East Cork Trance Scene.

yeah it is cheese but i love it. made out with lots of chicks over that tune last summer. ohh the memories

Posted by trancaholic on May-09-2002 20:18:

GGDAG is definately not cheese. He has succeeded in creating his own unique sound which has later been copied/raped by a lot of others (including Daddy DJ). I had the "L'amour Toujours" double CD since 99 and it's only recently that everybody has discovered its qualities. His album is one of the best I ever bought and I just hate it when people put down good music as cheese, just because it get's popular.

What about Luke Slater's new album? Is that cheese or just electronic? And how will you rate it when everybody goes nuts to "Take us apart" or "I can complete you"?

Posted by Astronaut on May-09-2002 20:51:

sorry for flaming but gigi stupid dagostino is the cheeziest "producer" ever..its realy annoying when his tracks discribed as trance or techno...he makes boring commercial tracks just because he wants to be at the top of the charts

Posted by BigDil on May-09-2002 20:54:

First of all, here's the cheese:

Sorry guys, I just couldn't help...

Anyways, I kinda liked that album (L'Amour Toujours), even tho it has some 'overplayed' and 'cheesy' tracks on it.

As for the radio stations, I can't understand why they act like there's not enough song to play. And if you have no choice, and you have to listen to the radio (ex. at work, etc.), it gets fucking annoying after a while...

And yea, this is why I avoid it whenever I can... And I think most of us do the same.

Hi there, my hungarian mate
If you're living in Budapest (I dunno), you must have been listenin too much to Roxy Radio 96.4. That crap radio played that song 100x times a day (as I was told). Now this is what made this track annoying.

And yea, I agree, his style is not exactly trance...

Posted by Biohazard on May-09-2002 21:56:

this is the shit that makes holland have a crappy trance scene

Registered April 2002, so he doesn't understand cheese!!! Someone like gigi's name should never be mentioned around here unless you want instant flaming. His genre is more of dance which theres a fine line between dance and trance. Although I will admit, song is alrite!

I think comments like this are extremely close minded and immature, if he likes Gigi D'agostino so let him be, we live in a free world so there's nothing to stop him! As it happens I do not like Gigi one bit but we all have different opinions and can't all like the same thing!

The original thread....

As a response to your original question, I haven't listened to that song in a while but I remember it was kind of cool...what do you think of 'movimento' by the same artist? When I went to Italy two summers ago on vacation I discovered some new euro artists when I bought this random CD on their top charts called 'hot party', it turned out to be a cool continuous mix of dance songs...l'amour tujours was on it, I liked it because it had unusual chords for a dance song...kind of intriguing, although I didn't like the beat too much because it didn't do very much throughout the song. It was my first continuous mix CD ironically, since I was just getting into dance music at the time, now I don't own a single CD that's NOT a continuous mix... so anyhoo movimento is cool because it features a 3/4 feel to it that breaks out of the standard 4/4 of dance music...it's full of triplets...groovy......I'll remember to add your original song to my queue so I can tell what I think of it again...

And how exactly are they close minded and immature? The person who started the thread asked us our opinions of Gigi and what our thoughts were on that track and I told him how I felt about it. Nowhere did I make fun of him. IMO L'amours Toujours is crap and the CHEESIEST form of cheese there is, not to say that I don't like cheese (cuz then that would be lying).

He asked an opinion and I responded. If he likes Gigi, that's cool and I can respect that. Since we all have different tastes. It's not like I came on this board and post up a new thread titled Gigi is Crap! or anything like that to get flamed. Then that would be different.

I know him from 1996 ......when he released his first productions...like Angel symphony ...the only track i like it a little bit and guess what??
He didn't made it by himself but with raf by picotto and another guy that i can't remeber the name ......

OK, sorry if my response looked a little harsh!
Didn't know he was wanting opinions on Gigi in here!

Now for my opinion on him, I personally hate him myself. Back in 1997 I kinda liked the Picotto Remix of "Gin Lemon" but his new stuff is really bad IMO.

Pesti vagyok...de pont az ilyen Dagostinók miatt nem hallgatok Roxyt.

greetz!

People are blasting the song down for being cheesy. But all cheesy means is easy and fun. Of which it is both. It doesn't relate at all the the quality of the production.
All I've heard of Gigi is L'Amour Toujours and La Passion, so I can't say wether I think he is a good artist or not overall.

But these two tunes are nice, fun, happy songs. The sort of thing you sing in the shower. They are not bad or cheap productions like so many trance songs are.

I tend to dislike cheesy songs. And most of the trance heralded by users here I find too cheesy, but the two Gigi tunes I have mentioned are good.

Don't shoot him down because the songs are commercial.
