could this be the answers to my prayers?

been waiting for a decent space shooter since freespace 2, and the new, stand-alone game set in the X3 universe sounds like it has an option for a more streamlined, combat-orientated approach if you want it

early trailer at IGN.

i was put off by the open-ended nature of the originals, so the option to play a military pilot right from the start with a storyline sounds good to me. *fingers crossed kids!*

Computer games developer Egosoft and Koch Media, a leading distributor of games and application software, today announced the conclusion of an exclusive publishing and distribution agreement for the title X: Terran Conflict. X: Terran Conflict will be released under the Deep Silver label.

"The X series has always been one of our top quality brands, and an integral part of the Deep Silver portfolio," states Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, Managing Director of Koch Media. "So we are very happy to be presenting the gripping next installment of the X universe's story in X: Terran Conflict."

"We look forward to adding another successful chapter to the X story, together with Koch Media," says Bernd Lehahn, Managing Director of Egosoft.

X: Terran Conflict is a brand new, stand-alone game set in the universe of X. It is the culmination of the X trilogy, with a grand finale that takes us all the way back to Earth's own solar system. Gamers can take on the roles of different characters in the X universe, or of a Terran military pilot, and experience a multitude of stories in the largest X universe ever featured for X: Terran Conflict will offer more missions than any other X game before. Meanwhile, X: Terran Conflict will pose questions such as: How has Earth changed in all these years? And how will relations between Earth and its counterparts in the X universe develop?

X: Terran Conflict is scheduled for release in the third quarter of 2008.

Music to the ears of an old space sim jock like me. Though i must admit, even though i played Freespace (1 & 2). I always much preferred the wing commander or X-Wing/TIE-Fighter games.

Oh xw/tf... so many of my adolescent evenings gone... all gone to that series.

yeah, well tie fighter WAS the best game ever made until forged alliance came out

as awesome as freespace 2 was, it never quite reached the gloriously epic heights that tie fighter did. they really need to a proper sequel with today's technology, it would be crazy.

Tell me about it!

Oh snap, X3 is a fantastic game and a singleplayer version of it (pretty much) should be wicked!

Only downside is that the devs haven't really proved themselves in terms of story telling but we'll see what happens.

Should be good anyway.

I keep meaning to go back and play X3 but Eve takes up too much of my free time...
