could this be the answers to my prayers?
been waiting for a decent space shooter since freespace 2, and the new, stand-alone game set in the X3 universe sounds like it has an option for a more streamlined, combat-orientated approach if you want it

early trailer at IGN.
i was put off by the open-ended nature of the originals, so the option to play a military pilot right from the start with a storyline sounds good to me. *fingers crossed kids!*

Though I seriousely doubt this will rival the awesomeness of freespace 2, I will definately check it out.

^ oh hey, I'll take those.
Music to the ears of an old space sim jock like me. Though i must admit, even though i played Freespace (1 & 2). I always much preferred the wing commander or X-Wing/TIE-Fighter games.

yeah, well tie fighter WAS the best game ever made until forged alliance came out
as awesome as freespace 2 was, it never quite reached the gloriously epic heights that tie fighter did. they really need to a proper sequel with today's technology, it would be crazy.

Oh snap, X3 is a fantastic game and a singleplayer version of it (pretty much) should be wicked!
Only downside is that the devs haven't really proved themselves in terms of story telling but we'll see what happens.
Should be good anyway.
I keep meaning to go back and play X3 but Eve takes up too much of my free time...
Wtf is this... the cor?
