REVIEW: Moby @ TiL 03-07-08
So last night wa full fo firsts for me as this was my first time @ TiL. The club itself is very nice and well decorated and the staff VERY friendly.
Now as for the show itself....I was one the unfortunate people to try and watch the show from the front of the dancefloor. There were some people there that were super friendly and then there were some people that just didnt seem to care for the crowd and started pushing...women included. When Moby was finished the space was cleared up very quickly.
As for the Moby set itself: in all honesty I would say it was nice to hear drop some well known tunes, Go, Porcelain, Underworld - Born Slippy, Inner City - Good Life, and Where's Your Head At. The one thing the 1.5 hour set did not have though was some form of consistancy. All in all I would give the night a 6/10. Always a good time with Invasionmix, Alino, Stephan and Sarah.
P.S. Highlight of the night was Stephan pissing on the Gardiner in the middle of a traffic jam / blizzard.
Left early. The crowd was just ridiculous.
Who ever played before moby, did a pretty good job playing lots of hits, and floor fillers. Fun, and light.

First time at TIL=Gorgeous club
Moby's set was ok. I found it to be fairly inconsistent. A lot of the material was off that mix posted in the roll call too (including some dodgy mixes).
But what the hell... I got to see Moby spin live
Nice meeting Vince and Ben. See you all at guv or zone down the line..

...was really sad that I had to miss last night, but I'm not so much anymore...seriously, wtf is 1.5 hrs???
Joe and Fab always to the rescueeeeeeeee
Yeah he finally got on around 1am and was finished by no later than 2:30. But M&S really did save the night. They dropped some good tunage after Moby got off the deck. IMO M&S over Moby......(I will probibly get torn apart for this comment) lol

First time at TiL and it's beautiful. Although I don't think it's a place I would return to on a normal night (unless it was to party in the bathroom... WOW). For most part the staff was very nice, and even the angry security guard at the front of the DJ both ended up taking a pretty decent picture of Moby for me
The crowd was so pushy that my two friends left early, but found myself surrounded by some die-hard Moby fans.
I was upset that his set was so short and I agree with everyone else, his set was pretty inconsistant BUT each track he dropped seemed to be better than the last. It was a blast. Moby seemed to really enjoy himself as well, he was constantly smiling and laughing and seemed to really enjoy the crowd.
M&S did a great job warming up the crowd before Moby and dropped some serious tunes afterwards. It was hard for me to leave (at about 3:30) but I was so tired. They definately deserve two thumbs up.
I guess this confirms that his set last year in the kool haus was just a one off. Plus, it looks like he doesn't buy very many new records.
Oh well, I guess he is just doing it for some kicks. Why the hell not, right?
i wonder what his price tag was... to come play for 1.5 hrs at a 2 yr anniversary party

The ending tune for Moby that was just intense. I thought my brain was going to explode and leak out of my ears, nose & mouth...

| Originally posted by Jackn Funk I remember before his set at Kool Haus last year he said on his blog that he hoped that they'd have vinyl records players because he doesn't really know how to DJ digitally with CD-R's. They did and his set rocked! Looks like from the pics that he was forced to DJ digitally at TiL. Probably why he couldn't mix as good as he could. Let's see what the set-up is like in Montreal tonite for him and what his set's going to be like. |

Moby had some great things to say about Canada before his set.
Moby's Myspace blog from Thursday, March 06, 2008
"hi, i know, i've been lax as of late and i haven't written in a while.
mea culpa, i'm sorry.
and now i'm in canada.
i spent 7 hours in/at laguardia airport today waiting for my flight to leave.
there's no end to the fun you can have in laguardia if you have 7 hours to kill.
ok, i exaggerate. there's a definite limit to the fun you can have in laguardia
if you have 7 hours to kill.
in fact the fun runs out after about, oh, 48 seconds.
leaving you with 6 hours, 59 minutes, 12 seconds to kill in a fun-free environment.
and now i'm in toronto, which is nice because i like toronto(and canada in general).
you know a fun fact about canada that doesn't get reported too much in the media?
they have more natural resources than just about any other country on the planet.
it's going to be interesting to see how this plays out over time, especially as you have china(1 billion people)and india(around 1 billion people)with almost no natural resources.
so, if you'll forgive my dilletantish lesson on the basics of supply and demand, canada has a lot of natural resources at a time when the rest of the world needs natural resources.
this will probably lead to canada becoming one of the wealthiest countries on the planet(just look at norway and their oil reserves and insanely high gdp), especially as the population of canada are healthy and relatively sane and well educated(well educated and healthy people tend to be better at creating wealth than poorly educated and unhealthy people, just compare luxembourg
to haiti).
maybe the 21st century will end up being the pax canada century.
pax canada seems pretty appealing, actually, especially when compared
to the alternatives.
eh, i'm just rambling on after spending 7 hours in the laguardia airport/refugee camp.
in other news, i'm dj'ing in toronto on friday and montreal on saturday."
