TAKKRA presents; Black Dahlia (Original Mix)

This track was started somewhere early in 2007 and I worked on it on and on, changing percs, synths, basses, kicks etc to come to a track which now is a tad ahead of the style trance is going to.
Being a tad ahead on style, doesn't mean it's the right direction trance will go to, it's just the twist I give to it.
The track, being raw as it is, was intended to sound so.
I have also been experimenting with "virtual space" you appear to hear when you're listening and I hope you may experience this in my track for the better of it.

Full track
@ 192kb/s
going for lmost 6 minutes.
[137 bpm]

GRAB

Sincerely hope you guys enjoy

Regards from Holland!

I like it. I would play with the bassline because a different pattern might prove to be more effective! The FX you have rolling combined with the bassline synth are very Infected Mushroom. Once the real saturated (heavy or distorted) synth comes in the style shifts slightly. Again, pattern you choose with this dirty synth loses my attention. I like the synths but am not a huge fan of the patterns you have decided upon. The FX are cool, but I would EQ them a little more. Overall, I would keep playing with this! It's a cool approach it just needs to be cleaned up.

But this is all just my opinion! Good work on the track! I like how it comes back together. You can still have this dirty sound while "Cleaning" up the EQ. I'd like you to play with the mixdown and EQ a bit more but like I said, it's just my opinion. Kudos.

Very interesting tune here (but not in the bad way!) I was a little lost in the first couple of minutes but then you start to see where the song is going. I think as Evolve says, the concept is good but the distortion on the various synths needs to be cleaned up just enough to fix some of the EQ issues without losing that nice raw flavour the track has.

That sample that comes in at 2:20 (sounds to me like a snare with some heavy distortion on it) really sounds like it doesn't belong and it muddies up your kickdrum so the track loses some of its punch. When it cuts out at 2:48 and the track winds down into the breakdown, its like a breath of fresh air! If you wanna keep it, I'd suggest bringing its level down or EQ'ing out some of its lower end (or a bit of both).

The pads and ambience sound so nice from 2:48 to 3:03 that its almost a shame to lose them, although I can see how they would soften the effect of that harsh lead which comes in. I personally am not a fan of the lead, could be a little cleaner, although i must admit it sounds better through good speakers than through headphones. I love the reverb shuffle effect you've got going with the percussion, I use that technique a lot myself, it really adds energy and depth
