Most popular EDM genre in your area?
What city/state/country are you from and what EDM genre is most prominent there?
I am from central PA and around here house is practically the only edm genre you can get away with spinning. I wish i lived in or around europe...
My brother is now living in Fort Lauderdale FL and he tells me that Drum and Bass is pretty big down there...
what about you?
i think it's shit pop rap and r'n'b here. wouldn't know though as i don't listen to the radio and haven't been in any bars/clubs in ages.
and i'm from finland.
RnB and commercial house/"electro house"
No wonder I have to get wasted everytime I go out..
The more Electro side of House and the typical Trance. Techno has a very strong underground following. It's not popular, but very well-supported with some amazing intimate nights that you can't come close to in places like LA, NY, and Miami.
electro house is the most popular style around here. However, it's mostly top40 here.

Los Angeles, CA - It seems that in all clubbing environments, Hip-Hop, and Crunk Top 40 is the way to go...
But in EDM...like at the massive events...most the DJ's tend to play Progressive House on the main stage in front of 40,000 people....some play a more trancy genre...but overall...this is what's happening.
Im from Miami...Electro house has been a perdominant sound in this city, however it is slowly transitioning to more Tech house..sucks because I love electro lol
I'm in Atlanta right now. I haven't been here for long enough to tell which EDM genre is getting the most play time, but I do know that here we have a good Deep House scene, with multiple promoters booking shows on every night of the week. There's seriously about 4 different places to go to for Deep House on a Tuesday
There's also a DnB crew here, and a lot of local DJs are into ProgHouse.
I came from NC, and that scene is filled with Breaks, Breaks, and Breaks. Florida Breaks, Prog Breaks, NuSkool Breaks, Electro Breaks, Breaks Breaks, you name it! This is slowly changing as the scene as the druggies of the scene have downsized to mostly private house parties, and in that void Prog/Mnml/Electro House DJs are now playing at clubs.
Oh, and we had three (!!!) gay clubs in Hickory at one point last year. That's a lot of Circuit House!

In Milwaukee: Shitty, awful, horrible house and drum and bass, the majority of which has been beaten to death by the same 4 jocks for the past 10 years.
In Chicago, however, it's all about good house and techno. Trance still probably draws the biggest crowds (those Eastern European kids love to reach for the lasers), but there is so much good music in Chicago it hurts.

In Austin theres a really small EDM scene so its the obligatory top 40 + crunk rap.
The places that will play EDM will mix Bob Sinclair cheese with top 40, its pretty awful. Theres a few clubs that only play house but they are way to expensive and elitist for my taste.
no one likes EDM where i live. it's so bad they haven't even heard of tiesto
except for a few people....

In the bay area its really diverse. I haven't done enough exploring into SF to know all the clubs, but raves are typically a blend of trance house and DNB. Theres alot of breaks DJ's out here too.

UK (Midlands) - Electro, trance, techno and minimal
UK (London) - Techno, Minimal
There seems to be a lot of events now that have many styles playing though.
