Whats the effects button ?
Ok, I have heard a few DJ Tiesto sets and some-times whilst hes in the mix he puts an effect in that sound sweet. I know that he does it because i have the records he plays and mine dont do it there selfs. The best example is his set at dutch dimension, when he mixes the green martian into gouryella, He absoloutly hammers this effects button and i need to know the name of it ! THANKZ Jamez,
post a sample of it please
most likely a flange...its on teh DJM 600, and 500 I Think
the 600 also has a filter that he might have been useing
He used a VRM-10 mixer on Dutch Dimension, that mixer has a cutoff filter (just like my Xone hehe). It's probably that one you mean.

yes..the VCF filter on the Xone are killer.
I was tempted to ask Jules last time i saw him live, Judge Jules absoloutly loves this button or nob or what-ever it is. Can some one explain more about this effect, Are you able to turn the nob either way to make it go higher or deeper ?
It's not a DJM 500/600, at dutch demention they have a Stanton VRM-10 which has 16 different fx, 4 flanges and so on... He could have been using any of those...
See those 2 big rotary faders at the bottom(the bigest ones) u choose an effect, and turn them either way to make the effect sound louder, quieter, deeper....
Thank you very much. That mixer is a beast !
I use most the effects on my pioneer 500 all the time. you just need to know how to use em to make it sound good

yeah that mixer is serious. stanton pulls out with one insane NON-VESTAX-COPIED mixer for once, and it's the greatest. Tube mixer.. ahhhh *drools*
I want it.
can someone post a sample?
There is some effects you can do without effects buttons/pads etc.
Cuttoff: Pull Down on the mid eq, then bring the treble down after it, or vice versa for cuttoff effects.
Phasing sorta noise: Pull Down the mid eq, then pull up the bass then swap the bass and treble down then slowly keep swapping the bass and treble over.
Remember these are not effects as such, they just sound cool
Both sound very cool during a break. Taught to me by the 1 and only GIBBO
Also try the cutting technique, where u pull a channel fader down by the hihat and return it to full just b4 the kick, so its a very quick movement, also do this with the bass EQ, sounds wikked if you can do it right. I'll post a sample of each thing when I can get some space.
Thought of another couple and all
Match up ur choons, works best if the incoming 1 has a hard beat, turn the highs and mids down but hav the bass on max, then use the fader 2 bring it accross 2 make loud kicks to emphasise a build/crash, also try flicking back 1 beat like this which can also sound cool, its great for creating the idea that a break is coming when there blatently isnt
Also leads me on to the only real phase technique, hav 2 of the same records playing, on beatm perfectly matched, or u wont get phase, also knock the 2nd record 1 beat off and turn it down a lil, then u get echo, very good for in breaks.
AND SORRY 4 THE 3 POSTS, I ONLY THOUGHT OF THEM AFTER ID POSTED RITE
