Talent vs. Personality

Making it as a DJ, what would you say is the split formula?

I'm thinking (especially in Toronto) it's:

75% dick sucking
25% talent

* This reflects the present time obviously. I'm sure if i asked myself this question a few years back it would be different.

Thoughts?

thoughts? I think you ought to visit any of the successful toronto DJ's and tell them that 75% of the reason that they are successful is because of the dicks they have sucked... see how it goes then tell us all, I'm sure loads of people would be interested to hear... stupid thread.

Actually, the only thing stupid, is your response.

This is a forum. People ask questions, and then people answer those questions, retard.

If you're not going to put some thought and answer the question i asked, then it looks like you're the stupid one.

Thanks for telling me how you feel though. I'll make sure to message you the next time I decide to start a thread so i can get your approval.

Fagatron?

Is that Windsor slang?

is dick sucking the same as ass kissing? well if it is, isn't that what most ppl do to get ahead (no pun intended).

its all about developing ur "closeness" with 4 main cliques if ur not at every single party with these cliques (which include these djs) and keep reminding them how awesome they are, it really aint easy getting a decent gig in town....

ive seen some really talented djs just phase out not by choice but because they kept trying to get gigs and didnt adhere to the above policy...

PS. in addition, if it aint ONLY house u play, dont even bother (house + any other genre is a big NO NO as well...diversity is unacceptable)

ALL of you stfu.

I think when it comes to being a successful international DJ the breakdown is something like this

10% DJing Talent
10% Track Selection
20% personality/antics
60% marketing

Agree completely. Especially the House part. I sometimes skim through the Events section, and shake my head cause it's like 10 House events to every other genre combined.
