Guitar Hero World Record

I don't know if anyone else is hooked on Guitar Hero or the all-mighty Rock Band? I can barely master medium let alone trying hard, great for playing after you get home from a party maybe along with some Jenga and Pictionary.

This kid is nuts though.

Shouldn't we be praising people for playing real guitars?

I have to have this game, no question

Congratulations, you just broke the world record for most wasted free time ever.

Now go out there and get a life.

Have you ever played the game? That shit takes talent.

I have. I also play REAL guitar.

Yes, it takes skill to play GH, but give me a break, this is just at the point of stupid. If he put HALF the time into learning guitar as he did GH, he'd be Clapton by now.

There is a band called "The Guitar Zeros" who use the GH guitar (hacked) and make real music.

They actually are out on tour and perform some pretty cool music with their modified GH axes (video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9e56cxCduo).

Check them out:

Well I believe you Mr. Spencer, but I can't play a guitar and I love this new way of playing video games, plus you can play it with friends.

I dont think its stupid and I think there are alot of people who will agree.

I would like to see you play guitar hero at even that level though, that is some serious eye hand coordination

I have GH2 and GH3, I play on medium and average around 85-95% notes hit and streaks around 150-200 notes.

I'm not saying it isn't a cool game, or a lot of fun...I'm just saying that this guy has spent WAY too much time playing. No different than Halo fanatics and WoW nerds. Get a life. Go outside. DO. SOMETHING. REAL.

How is GH any different than people who fiddle around with MIDI?

People who 'fiddle around' with MIDI are creating something, they are making or augmenting sounds and tracks.

GH is a game. Yes, you are triggering sounds, but you create nothing and at the end of it, instead of something new to put on beatport, you get 'You Rock' and a chance to play again.

Well I think you can realise the reason people play GH instead of real guitar.

Playing real guitar, you dont get awesome graphics, dont get to rock out with old school bands, and no fancy graphics. GH is an 'instantly reward' experience. No wonder people play that, rather than real life.

No arguement here, but does this not seem like a bit much?

Some people make money off of video games for a living, not only that statistics have shown a child that plays video games have better coordination and problem solving skills.

Dont get me wrong I would rather send my kid outside to fly a kite or something but I dont think its too much. Its not too much, its a cool concept and fun as hell, stop being so cynical lol.

I have two things to say to you:

1. I can barely master Easy, let alone PASS medium! Hahaha
2. Jenga or Pictionary eh? You have obviously yet to play my homemade Scattegories game...GREAT for after partying! Hahaha

PLUS you can play it with your friends? No way. I didn't think video games were capable of the multiplayer option.

P.S. If we're talking strictly Guitar Hero, it's a shitty way of "multiplayer" because while one person plays, the rest sit there and wait for their turn. True multiplayer is simultaneous.

You've really drove the graphics aspect of GH home. Which is funny, considering its graphics are mediocre at best. Its fancy graphics are reminiscent of the Flash games I play on the internet. Not to mention, you tend to not notice what's going on in the background at all because all you're doing is staring at the scrolling circles. It can have a black background with the same scolling circles, and I doubt many people would notice, especially on the harder levels.

Also, it's not any more of an instant reward than any other game, and certainly not more so than real guitar. It took me quite a bit of practice to start passing the easy levels. Just as much practice as it would ahve taken me to strum a few simple chords on a real guitar. The pivotal difference is that playing a real guitar is a skill, and being an expert at GH is not any more of a skill than being able to pull off insane combos in Street Fighter.

Guitar Hero fans sound a lot like Apple fans - they're being sold the same old thing in a new package, and yet they are convinced its revolutionary.

I was more referring to Rock Band with that.
