T.O. Is Not Canada's Most Dangerous City
Toronto the good still exists and Canadians can go ahead and spread the word to your big-city-fearing relatives.
An exclusive Maclean's magazine survey finds Toronto is no where near the ten top dangerous cities in Canada.
In fact researchers were surprised when Toronto - with well-publicized racial tensions and gun and gang violence - ranked well down a danger list of the 100 largest cities or regions in the country.
Toronto came in at 26.
Regina is the most dangerous, followed by Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
Vancouver and halifax round out the "dangerous cities" list at numbers 9 and 10.
Statistically, Caledon is Canada's safest community, according to Maclean's magazine.

Could have told you this years ago. It is extremely safe to live in Toronto.
Statistically speaking, the further north you go, the more likely it is that you will become a victim of crime.
More people need to read the StatsCan website.
A Comparison of Large Urban, Small Urban and Rural Crime Rates, 2005
It is much safer to live in a large city than it is to live in a smaller area.
Every city had its danger zones and not so danger zones. Studies like these are useless.
the most dangerous city for me was a few years ago when i was out in ajax/oshawa/whitby (i cant remmeber which one) at a club that was facing hwy 401. i was walking back to the car in the parking lot and a bunch of drunk racist white guys wanted to kick my ass. they might as well be wearing their pointy white hoods.

i was surprised that Toronto wasn't in the top ten most dangerous cities when i happened upon this article earlier today. However, I wasn't surprised that alot of the top ten most dangerous are in western Canada. For some reason, i noticed that there is less jobs/opportunity out there and in turn im sure it that influences the crime rate.
I really think this is based on Police to civilian ratio... Since Regina has like 10 cops and like a thousand ppl (just a stupid guess) that is what makes it dangerous... I've heard about a similar case way up in the yukon territories saying that one incident where a guy lost control of himself and stabbed his brother.. the result was the small remote town of maybe 10 ppl were waiting 30 days in order to get a police officer there..

It's the natives that make those cities dangerous...
Someone had to say it!
Western Canada is booming with jobs.
I still plan on turning my home into a fortress, complete with machinegun pillboxes, anti aircraft battery and a freaking moat with alligators in them

not really news. only ignorant fools label toronto the most dangerous.
look up any stats on this (and they are easy to google) and youll see (as the article pointed out) we are far from it. even wikipedia has an article on it.
