The Prodigy = electro???? according to gatecrasher
i dont get it. i love some prodigy tunes and though im not an expert on them, i only have the best of dvd with the live concert, i would not have described them as being electro/rock. is this just something to try and get attention/sales from the people following the current trend?? email i got about the summer sound system from gatecrasher describes them thusly:

| Renowned for their incendiary live performances, seminal electro/rock band The Prodigy will be headlining Saturdays shindig with their unique blend of brutal punk-rock riffs and dark, voodoo beats. One of just 4 UK festival experiences this promises to be radically different from recent shows, and will be an unmissable showcase of classic and new tracks, for the in demand band who last played live in the UK 2 years ago. |
i think they meant electronic-rock and just shortened it to electro..
Tracks like Memphis Bells and Girls are electro tinged, I'd say. Definitely not an electro band in general, though.

ya their newer sound is kinda electroish, though i prefer their older sound which was more industrial
Their last album used a lot of Reason presets synonymous with the modern "electro" sound, plus tracks like Girls can certainly make a claim to being influenced by electro, sampling old B-boy stuff.
However, I'm not sure why they'd feel the need to lump The Prodge into current bandwagons- everyone on the planet knows them and knows whether they want to see them live.
The Prodigy - breakbeat hardcore, breaks, rave, big beat, electronic rock (punk), electro... they've done everything and it's pretty stupid to put them under just one label. They are just great EDM band, that's how I'd label them

he mostly used reason to write the music then change the sounds to his oldschool analog synths later in logic.
