Scott Bond vs. Solar Stone - The 3rd Earth release infos...

Ok despite a lot of people moaning about this tune in typical TA style, I like it. I've been trying to find on vinyl/CD/download-store all the old tracks that I used to like and download from hubs/Audiogalaxy/etc back in the day. (Hey, its only fair)

The 3rd Earth has got me stumped.

Obviously its available in the download stores and on Discogs, with versions of the original mix with times of 8m55s, 8m43s, 10m08s and 10m05s. Again, you'd look for the longest version generally.

The version I have is 11m17s.

This version that I have I think has a slightly longer build up after the breakdown and the melody doesn't come in for a bit longer than in the 8 or 10m versions, I'm not sure. (Im not buying an 8 or 10 minute version to find out). IIRC it was leaked off a promo CD by a member of one of the old ripping groups (to much OMG back then from everyone).

IMO the pacing of the 11m17 version is far better than the other versions, they all seem rushed.

Anyone know if this longest version ever got a proper release or is available floating about on some promo CDs somewhere? What was the deal with it being cut for release?

Thanks.

Edit: The 11m17 rip is definitely CD/digital as theres no vinyl noise in the rip at all.

You probably have a promo copy that got given to a few dj's before the final copy hit the shelves. Happens to tons of tracks.

interesting. wasn't this also the song that had to change the sample they used because of licensing issues or something along those lines?

where did you get your version from chris (which download site)?

Posted by THE_Chris on Mar-17-2008 23:46:

I dont think they had to change the sample (which was good). I really have no idea where I got it from, it must have been the old DC Hub (EMC?) or one of those, I cant remember.

I just saw that on a Gatecrasher cd it is labeled as an "Extended mix." Again, could be a promotional copy or just something that someone else did at home and through it on a hub for other people to download.

This the one released on ID&T? I have this one as well, just never took the time to figure out how long it ran.

Posted by THE_Chris on Mar-17-2008 23:55:

This is the ID&T release on Discogs ->

http://www.discogs.com/release/171121

Says 10:08, is this the same one or I wonder did they do a promo run thats not listed?

Posted by JakeC on Mar-17-2008 23:58:

It's a htfr dodgy white so don't actually know lol.

btw, its the backing music for the snooker world championshiops.

Posted by THE_Chris on Mar-18-2008 00:02:

ah. Knowing HTFR I'm afraid to say I'll bet they pressed this leak to vinyl. Worth recording it as a .wav to the computer and seeing if the waveform of the file is mp3 compressed. I'll bet they did, as HTFR are generally bastards

check it in ableton and see if it drifts

Posted by DOOMBOT on Mar-18-2008 00:16:

Definitely not the ID&T release. Just clocked it. But shit, I was happy to listen to this one anyway, it's been a while.

i've been banging out naked angel in my trancey sets lately. It sounds so much better than 3rd earth to me (which is still nice) but has an unnecessary final mini-breakdown which irritates me a bit

np: Scott Bond vs. Solar Stone - 3rd Earth "3rd Earth"

Definitely one of the best progressive trance tracks in the last 5 (it's already been 5!) years, if not more. Amazing track. I first got the track name off the TIC DVD I remember, back in the day.

IMO, none of their two other collabs even came close, but it'd be cool if they tried another for old time's sake.

No buzzing, no farty bass, just smooth, melodic, prog trance.

There was apparently a mixup between 3rd Earth and Naked Angel at some point because the 3rd Earth release you linked to, originally featured the exact same lengths submitted than some mixes of Naked Angel which does have the ~11:20 original mix.

I've never actually seen or heard the 11:17 version of 3rd Earth...

Thanks folks. I'll get onto ID&T about it anyway, will try and contact Scott Bond or the lads from Solar Stone too. We'll see where that gets us

that tune brings back memories. the emc hub, and more depressing, the essentials hub (best source for the latest greatest beats EVER).
