Grayarea Appreciation
Are these guys involved in EDM anymore? According to their discogs bio they still love to dj "all-around".
Anyone heard any sets from them lately?
Would be great to see another release from them.
I'd really love to hear some similar gems as the Speakeasy Remix of Emerald, America's Hat Remix of Wonder and Yemnimyst.
And if you feel like suggesting me something similar, please do..
"Give Me Something I Can Actually Use" is the name of their debut album, hope they'll release it in 2008...

there's still arround but release solo stuff most of the time!
nosmo who is part of grayarea just released his excellent "headache" on aurium for example!
they've got some real unreleased gems in the vaults, would be nice to see their album.
I
Grayarea as well.
One of my favs of their remixography is the lovely Blackwatch & Greed - Gentle Rain (Grayarea's Dismembered Breaks Mix). Blissful version but the other versions aren't bad at all either.
Looking forward to their album if it ever surfaces...

wow!
i remember seeing them live on the Labour of Love 2005 broadcast. I just feel like they really stuck out.
Gravity was the only good thing i remember about them.
Yewmanyst (sp?) is one of my favorite songs of all time... Would love to see some more from these guys in the future.
the albatross remix 12" is great and so is the remixes of burufunk and benz+md
Their remix of Gravity kicks some ass!
I thought this thread was about the coffeeshop in Amsterdam
Saw them play live once. Very boring.
Grayarea (one of my favorite EDM acts of all time) unfortunately no longer exist. The band was from Chicago and comprised of Nosmo, McRae, and Dave Ruin.
They broke up over creative differences.
When I was living in New Orleans Louisiana, I went to see all 3 shows they played in the New Orleans area. I was a huge fanboy. I had every CD, every shirt, every poster, every unreleased track, even the bootleg version of their Emerald remix before they got commissioned to do a real remix. I became good friends with Nosmo after he literally saved my life (long story).
Shortly after Grayarea broke up, Hurricane Katrina hit and I was forced to move to Chicago. Nosmo was the only person I knew in Chicago. He was a great contributing factor in helping ease my adjustment to a new place where I knew no one and had just lost everything. He even threw me a birthday party and invited all of his friends because I knew no one in Chicago. First class guy.
We helped each other get back on our feet with music over the past 2 years. Currently Nosmo is co-producing with Kris B (They are actually the real authors of One For The Road, not Grayarea). Their music is hitting the radar again. If you want to pick up where Grayarea left off, listen to Nosmo and Kris B's music. It's phenomenal. they have a myspace, website, podcast, all that good stuff...look it up.
Yewminyst is indeed a good track
what Blake said, Nosmo & Kris are great guys. The run their own label called Nightshade Music which just went back online @ Beatport. For those in the Chicago area on April 9th, you can actually check them out @ "Hi-Def", my monthly label experience:

Thanks for a truly great post Blake! Would love to hear more about how Nosmo saved you, if you dont consider it to personal to tell.
So if they split up, that really contradicts the first post.. Does this mean that all the talk about a new album was just babbling?
Sidenote: Nik, i really wanted your input to this thread dammit

Amazing post, Blake -- Nosmo is an amazing producer (and, clearly, a great guy)...
I actually did not know that Nosmo was formerly part of Grayarea, until recently hearing (and loving) the new Nosmo v. Kris B remix of Ben Brown - City Streets (and, subsequently, doing a little research into the artists)....
I also wanted to add that Nosmo v. Kris B has a monthly radio show on Proton Radio called "The Influence." You can hear their newest releases on the show:

Still pissed off that 'Tape Leg' was never released.
'tis the first track
