Need Tax Advice

Hopefully someone will be able to help

Ok so I live in Windsor and work in the US with a TN Visa...I commute to work.

Now I know I have to file both taxes in the US and in Canada.

Here are my questions.

1. I only worked in the US for 3 months las years...Am I exempt from doing one of the taxes since I have been working there for less thatn 183 days??

2. Do I do my taxes in the US like everyone else there? Is there any special forms I have to fill out since I reside in Canada?

3. For my Canadian filing, what forms do I need to fill out? Is there somewhere where I declare foreign income?

Any tips and help is appreciated.

This is not worth taking a risk on man.

Talk to a tax specialist, tax lawyer, or accountant. You're dealing with the IRS & Rev. Can., neither one is to messed with, let alone both.

I know for sure that on the Canadian side you'll have to file an additional T-50133 in addition to all declarations for income, regarding income earned out-of-country.

But I'm not one of the 3 people I listed above, I'm in capital investments and land-banking. So I can't really give you any more advice than that.

Good luck.

Definently get a tax specialist. My mom used to do them last year for people but don't think she is this year. I'll ask tho...

I got a few friends who live in Windsor and commute to Detroit for work as well, i'll ask them what they do...

I have always done my own taxes and would like to continue to do them myself, which is why I was asking for some advice.

THanks.

Let's say that you get a some money either by Ransom...or finding a missing person...

Do I have to claim that as income?

If so...is it other income? lol

Revenue Canada isn't so harsh

The fucking IRS has more balls then our provincial police, I'd keep my P's & Q's on the US side
