hotel recommendations?

Posted by mtl_au on Mar-25-2008 07:59:

Hotels in Montreal

Without hesitating, I would go for the Plateau Mont Royal(neighbourhood) for the best Montreal experience as many locals live there but few hotels itself but ''B&B's'' instead.

I have noticed while walking last week this one and cheap at about $125 including taxes for two, this is a great value for the locatioin very close to Parc Lafontaine:
http://www3.sympatico.ca/couette/index.htm
This one below is just over $200 and well located right in front of Parc Lafontaine:
http://www.aubergedelafontaine.com/...ndex_tarifs.cfm

The old Montreal could be good too but it lacks of locals to immerse yourself into the citybeat and would be more expensive.

The other other nearby would be Hotel des Gouverneurs at Place Dupuis
which is a kind of large american style but owned by quebecers:

If you need more information, write back

Cheers

definitely the Econolodge on Saint-Dominique. It's about $80-$100 a night and it's 2 minutes walking distance from Metropolis which is the venue for the weekend events (Carl Craig???!!)

It's also one minute walking distance from a metro station which will take you to the piknic site (takes about 20 minutes).
