can't cause it shows the file, then duplicate, then the next file and so on so if i delete everything it will delete my whole library, not just the duplicates

shift...?

You must have the option checked to have iTunes manage your library. What it will do is create files for artists and albums and sort everything. And unless the file was originally inside the music library directory, it makes a copy instead of simply moving it.

this is what im lookin at, all the files with the missing tag (!) are the files i want which are in my external hard drive, the other files which are there i don't know how they got there because they are not the way i set them up with equalizer and various things....

What you can do from here is delete the library without actually deleting any of the files and just start over.

Just make sure that your iTunes isn't set to manage your music library.

F****** itunes rearranged all my god damn files so instead of having it in folders like i always did, it made a different folder for each artist

I HOPE THIS IS FIXABLE

yep! havent had a problem since 2001

I just fucking use folders to organize my music. Then when I feel like music I go to my music folder and then an album folder and then I double click a song or songs and then it plays in winamp. So simple and easy

dump itunes and use winamp. it has a media library thats MUCH better than itunes. try it sometime.

That may be the case... but what if you have an iPod?

Posted by PvDoBseSSioN on Mar-20-2008 19:43:

well there was no way around it, so now i gotta create all my folders and my playlists again

so i gotta sort through 1100+ folders and drag every file one by one to new folders

Then you use winamp to load songs onto the iPod.

winamp has had NATIVE support for ipods since version 5.0! i will concede though, if you have NEVER used an ipod you MUST install itunes and plug the ipod in so the proper drivers can be installed.

So true. Who needs libraries. Know where's your music at.
