Help with context menus and registry edit
While mucking around and trying to make a "create file listing" command for folders when right clicked, I've somehow set "search" as my default option in the context menu when double clicked, rather than "open".
I know this has to do with the "shell" folder in my registry, but I'm not sure how to edit it to make things work normally again.
Also, why is it that under tools > folder options > file types > advanced, Microsoft thought it would be a good idea to permanently gray out "edit" and "remove"? What's the point of fucking having the buttons there if you can't use them and are forced to edit the registry anyway?
Thanks for any help.
google:
1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
2. Locate and then click the Default value under the following keys in the registry if this problem occurs with folders:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
If this problem occurs with drives:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell
3. Click Modify on the Edit menu.
4. Type none in the Value data box, and then click OK.
5. Quit Registry Editor.
