Thumbs down ATB at How Sweet It Is - music was sooOo bad

Anyone else felt the same way? I just couldn't get into his music, and he definitely wasn't the typical melodic DJ that I pay money to see.

What do you expect from that lineup. ATB goona be horrible where ever he plays.

Posted by DaveT on Mar-23-2008 17:19:

Actually, it's interesting with ATB.

When he first played in the US a few years ago he was getting rave reviews all around and really surprising people...but every time he's been back around his reviews have gotten worse and worse.

All I know is that even though ATB hasn't done anything for the US market in like 10 years he can PACK a place....know the person who opened for him in DC a few weeks ago and he was blown away by how packed it got for him. No one understand why, really...has the popularity of his stuff from forever ago really stuck with people to the point they will go see him today?

When I saw him the first time he played with Armin here in LA, I enjoyed his set more than Armins. And I know I wasn't the only one that felt that way.

caught him last week in chicago...expected about 2000 people...walked in around midnight...no line at all....and there were at least 4000 people there......crazy.....

Posted by Rukes on Mar-23-2008 19:27:

This old picture pretty much explains it all:

The loudest the crowd gets for his shows is when he plays a quick sample of it

How sweet it is name and brand that brought people out, not atb. Saw atb last year at cirus for free and there wasnt many people there. How sweet it is , is a shell of what it use to be.

Are you sure about that? ATB played at Circus with AVB for Spundae's White Party and that night was insane!

OMG, this was one of the best shows ever for us (2006 I think it was). Armin was wonderful but then when ATB came out, it just made the night perfect. And those delicious tacos afetr hours of dancing were heavenly too

No. ATB was last at Circus in 2006 with AvB. I wasn't there, but you are saying both AvB and ATB in one party would be dead?

Next time he was in LA was How Sweet last year, where most people were there for him.

Then ATB was at Vanguard late last year and it was one of the most packed/crazy nights at Vanguard.

As with this year too, when ATB came on, the Drum n Bass andoutside areas emptied out as everyone flooded the main room for ATB.

just face it, the kandi kid ravers love ATB, but he's probably the only professional dj they ever heard of.

Posted by R!CH on Mar-23-2008 23:17:

whether or not you like his music, he still puts on a good show at 1015 and people still go nuts

he'll sing his tracks into the mic too, which is pretty cool

Kristina Sky & ATB > Armin... first time AvB was disappointing and has been since that day for me

I remember last time ATB was at 1015 back in 06

ATB is always fun, reguardless how many times you've seen him. And that's why people show up, the guy knows how to handle the crowd.

Tiesto

He was alright, moved the crowd like crazy. But yeah he pretty much played the exact same set from last years sweet.

Posted by DaveT on Mar-24-2008 05:04:
